What's the best free ftp service ? SmartFTP is dead.
 

So smartftp is no longer free,

what's the next best free ftp prog?

To me, CuteFTP was worth the price.

CuteFTP or Filezilla....I use filezilla everyday and have no complaints about it.

Winscp servs me well.Before i used flashfxp.

Filezilla is a good free one... But I would just spend the 50 bucks and get WSFTP Pro. Way worth it because its a time saver for me

Using Filezilla as well, works pretty well... minus the fact that I get constantly disconnected if I don't do anything on for like 5 minutes.

i use ssh.... and cute....

Use Firefox (which you should be anyway!) and get the "FireFTP" add-on. You can then just pop the icon into your toolbar. When you click it you'll get a new tab with an FTP program in it. Its a fairly basic FTP client, but it gets the job done, is simple, and is always a click/tab away. The icon fits nicely between the URL bar and the search bar :)

click start->click run->type "cmd"
ftp hostname

think how much you use certain pieces of software.... jesus man you have to spend a little money to make money.

In other news: torrent sites have cracked software.

Sly smartftp is not dead, it just costs a small fee now.

filezilla!

core has always been fine ....

i had to drop smart a few months ago. installed filezilla and i like it better than smart. smartftp got too bloated and slow, so the quickness of filezilla is a welcomed change

I decided to buy SmartFTP after using the free version for years. It's well worth it. It can also connect to SSH secured FTPs etc.

winscp always does the trick for me

i never even heard of smartftp.. back in the day i paid for cuteftp but they had some license issues and didnt get back to me etc.. so in the intermim i tried the free filezilla and it works great..

filezilla for mac needs some polish but all in all its solid.

i kind of like MuCommander now
