What would it cost for design of chat board like GFY, but mainstream?

Do you mean the actual coding of a board to have the functions of this one? Or just have a designer stick in the graphics to make it look better.

There really is no design. If you bought the vbulletin board all you need is the scripts to put the banners at the top and bottom and a logo at the top left, no?

All it is is picking colors, smileys, etc. The board code handles the rest. Just templates and banners and logos.
