Where you seen that, schedule on tv says something else.
Surprise appearance, er I mean unscheduled or whatever?

qxm 10-29-2008 06:45 PM

On John Stewart? .... not surprising... a surprise would be for Obama to go on Colbert after lots of his endorsements have gone to McCain.... will be very amusing nonetheless...

You do understand Colbert is just a parody of Bill O'Reily don't you? He's not a serious character, it's all just a act for his show.

yes... but his ratings compared to Colberts make him look like a tool in comparison even tho it might be the other way around....and yeah... it is obvious Colbert is a serious character :winkwink:

Colbert plays a caricature. Pre-show he comes out and allows the audience to ask him questions before he has to portray the self-admittedly horrible character he plays on tv. I know a lot of republicans who actually love Colbert and even agree with him on most things. Stephen does not even allow his children to watch his show. Republicans even like him because, while he makes fun of and parodies everything they believe, he gets "it". He understands the religious right. He understands the right wing in general. Stephen takes his family, every sunday, to church. He teaches sunday school.

Colbert was raised in a very intellectual way. He was brought up and raised in a family where religion was a very important component. He was also raised to question things he believes and is told. If you've EVER seen him with a hardcore religious guest on his show, you've seen him quote scripture way more readily and way more accurately than even his guest(s) verbatim and off the cuff. That gives him incredible "cred" when dealing with those guests.

I'm gonna stop this rant here to prevent sounding too much like a fan-boy, but he's really an amazing guy. So is Jon Stewart. Jon is way more impartial and bitingly truthful than people give him credit for.

You people are fucking retarded, absolutely fucking retarded if you think Colbert would seriously endorse McCain. Either that or youre so damn old that you dont understand any of his humor or the core of his entire show.

The character is a caricature of news pundits such as Stone Phillips, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Geraldo Rivera, whose shows focus on "bluster and personality".[9][4] Colbert's character, a "well-intentioned, poorly informed, high-status idiot", is right-wing, egomaniacal, fact-averse, God-fearing, and super-patriotic. He claims to be an independent who is often mistaken for a Republican, but uniformly despises liberals and generally agrees with the actions and decisions of George W. Bush and the Republican Party. This is evidenced by one of the questions that he asks of many of his guests: "George W. Bush: great President, or the greatest President?
are you voting mccain? you seem to have the IQ of a mccain supporter.

You do realize that Colbert is playing a character that is a satire of right wing pundits like Hannity and Limbaugh right?

gornyhuy 10-30-2008 07:53 PM

this thread makes my tiny brain hurt.

My god insulting you is like doing you a favor ....... Don't be such a cock sucking ignorant ... why would I be a McCain supporter after going through 8 years of Republican leadership? You don't seem to understand straight words so let me spell it out for you...

Why did I say it would be fun to watch Obama go on Colbert? -- Because the whole dam show is a Comedy, it portrays Colbert as a "Republican" who emulates Bill O'reilly. This in now way means that Colbert is a republican or a Democrat; he is simply PLAYING FREAKING ROLL ... GET THAT THROUGH YOUR TINY DUM ASS SKULL....

Now if all fairness, I do not consider all McCain supporters to be dam right idiots like you do. Those who support him because of racial reasons are beyond protection but those who support McCain because his tax policies and whatever other reason are OK in my book, this is a freaking democracy and even tho McCain is not my candidate I have nothing against the old guy or his supporters.... if that hurts your feelings then that explains why u are in fucking Canada... stay there and don't fuck with Americans ....

Now as far as Colbert endorsement, if you honestly heard Colbert endorse Obama and in the end you heard him say "but that doesn't mean I'll vote for him" ... and you didn't understand what he was saying then you are a freaking idiot .... If you base your decisions on these shows then I pity you... U need to understand that these shows are funny for a reason and that calling people shit because you interpret these shows in a literal way is just pathetic....
