This is my experience...

I pre-checked an affiliate sale and my conversions went to shit...

20:1... stopped the pre-check... sales went to 2:1...

My experience is don't EVER GIVE IN TO DO PRECHECKS... HAVE FAITH IN your own program :)

but did the precheck sales make you more money in the end? A bad ratio that makes more money than a better ratio isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I didn't read the thread a month ago. Did it agree that pre-checked cross sales deter sign-ups?
My stats are still converting about the same from the moment I lifted the pre-check... much better. Still offer the cross sale but just not pre-checked... it really is amazing to me how something so small could have such a large impact.
To answer the question where my sales better overall... no where close!

Forget ratios, how many joins are you talking about?

I hope you aren't talking about anything less than 500 joins...

HDpays has zero cross sells

It's my poker site. Had it for one week and that was enough. Immediately, signups were about 25% of normal to within 1 hour of lifting the pre-check.

There was nothing else done to the site to have an impact like that.

So you did this over the course of 1 hour. Very scientific...

yeah, not much to go on. a week on a low volume site.
could have been an unusually sunny week where everyone was at the pool.

Anything is possible. Just my findings though.

How can you know the value per member comparison without a larger, longer term test?

That's the thing... I know the value of each new sign-up on vstrip. I lost a significant amount of that value for a week. Pulled it yesterday and as I post my conversions got back to where they were prior.

calling it the truth instead of your truth is a bit misleading though. :winkwink:

if that was the typical difference, you wouldn't see 95% of the major programs doing it.
