holy shit.... first class airfare is expensive

I didn't realize the difference, I was looking at a flight to Europe and the prices for regular economy were around $1000, but for first class they wanted $7000 to $10,000 !

didn't realize how extreme it was...... what do you get for first class I wonder?

Mr Pheer 10-29-2008 01:04 AM

First class is niiice, I fly that way all the time.

Its cheaper to wait till 24 hours before your flight, call the airline and upgrade :thumbsup

After Shock Media 10-29-2008 01:04 AM

A chair that can be a bed, better food, drinks, service, a bathroom, etc. depends on airline. Plus not having to sit cheek to cheek with someone that should be in two seats, who needs to get up every 15 minutes, snores, and is a talkative bastard.

good thinking... do they still do the "standby" thing where you can show up and get in cheap at the last minute?

You'll get the same price on a 24 hour upgrade, as you would waiting till you get to the gate and then trying to upgrade. If you wait till you get to the gate, you take a chance on not being able to upgrade at all if everyone else did it 24 hours before you.

Try Farecompare they have a y class upgrade searcht hat will find tickets through other engines Orbitz, travelocity, etc) that you wouldnt find if you went right to them.
Virgin America is the best, btw. The US Airways saga class is pretty good, but their domestic first isn't worth the money.

Virgin America rocks... dont even really need first class on thier planes. Its too bad they only fly to like 7 or 8 cities.

Domestic first class flights isn't a big difference. Once you do cross atlantic/pacific, it becomes a huge step up in service/quality. Worth the price... depends what kind of flyer you are really.

I'd agree with you there. The standard cabin is so nice it makes the first class look like pure gluttony. They are expanding their service a bit next year, according to their site, but yes, right now the service is limited.

Not to mention there is the first class lounge, with the bar, wifi, limousine service, and often has a shower at each end to freshen up. If you think you're going to fly first class more often, check out First Class Flyer. :thumbsup
