Vista made fuck to my printer device

My color laser printer wont work with Vista. No drivers and it's a very common HP printer. What the fuck!

Manowar 10-27-2008 04:41 PM

tried running the HP software under compatibility mode?

Yes, would not work. Tried all these different workarounds I found on blogs but nothing will work.

Plug it into your Mac, should work fine.

I heard Microsoft has bent a bit to the pressure and now offers an OEM no support version of XP that you can buy for $89 or something, I think that is probably the best solution, at least with XP you know that pretty much most of the bugs have been worked out already :2 cents:

Looks like they have a driver for your printer with vista. Did you not think to check HP's website?

Did you not think to click the vista link to see they have no driver? ;) Joke aside thanks for trying to help me find a solution.

So vista have been on the market for about a year, and you blame Microsoft for the fact that HP havent produced a driver for Vista?

Khulan 10-28-2008 05:12 PM

Don't even use Vista. It has very nice design and color. Everything looks enticing. But it makes my pc slow. I am comfortable with XP.

Amen!!!!!!!!!

It's all part of their DRM scheme in Vista... no printing allowed... period - that would be considered making an unauthorized copy.

I'm just waiting for Microsoft to create, then abandon a PrintsForSure system. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Vista is such a hacked together POS. They copied Mac OS X in every feature they could and still couldn't grab back the shares Apple's getting in the market. That, and, if you want the best of the best, it costs you 3x what a normal copy of OS X costs. Microsoft = FAIL. Snow Leopard will be out soon and Windows 7 will be history :2 cents:

GrouchyAdmin 10-29-2008 09:40 AM

You should be able to make it work by doing a forced installation of a Windows 2000 or XP driver. If you have your original CD, you can point to the folder with these drivers in it, and it will work. You may have to disable UAC, though.

I used the same crappy hack on some onboard intel i815 on a PC when I needed to use Vista for testing, and wasn't going to sacrifice a machine and lacked the CPU to do virtualization.

GigoloMike 10-29-2008 10:09 AM

Fuck Vista!!!
