No, they won't, because they cannot. They have already stated that no big changes will take effect. Also, the new president already announced that he had no intentions of changing country's western orientation. He also said he will put more attention on Eu memebership to speed up the process.

Even if he wanted to change the secular system, he has no power to do so. Turkey has world's most atheist and paranoid army. Army is very well developed and has the support of the public. If they ever decide to fuck up the secular system, they know that the army will ass rape them...

No need to worry, Turkey has been secular since it was established. If people would be willing to become a part of the Islamic world, they would vote for the SP (It is a real islamic party). That party only had %2.5 of the total votes.

The reason that the Akp (winner party), had so much success is mostly because the leader of the party was very succesfull when he was mayor of the Istanbul.

Also, the last government which was a coalition of 3 parties fucked up the economy and failed to their homework. AKP won the elections largely due to voter fury over a devastated economy.

They have no difference than the Europe's Christian Democrats and they have the same idology.

As an atheist Turk, I am very comfortable and happy with the results.

Yeah right, promises and promises. Turkey always had ways to manipulate and make false promises. Islamic religous roots are too much embedded in the government. As seen from Ottoman Turkey who with all the efforts of the European Powers, disregarded all the reforms for better human rights and towards a more constitutional government. I think Turkey now is not much different than Turkey during the Ottoman Empire. You can't just change to a more secular government from deep Islamic roots.

Exactly, and Turkey is not even putting any effort into admitting its mistakes and taking responsibility for all the human rights violations it has done in the past decades. Denying all the massacres and killings is not going to help Turkey to move towards a secular government.
