tomorrow there will be a vote in nevada about legalizing pot, up to 3oz. for rec. use. anyone think it'll pass?

Yeah, what the hell. Pot isn't my favourite thing, but neither is alcohol. Misuse of the legal one of the pair is a hell of a lot more dangerous and destructive. Maybe if they legalize weed, they can go after more serious crimes. I just hope they keep an eye on misuse.

PS Government doesn't have a right to make a natural plant that grows out of the ground illegal.

I drink beer and smoke pot. Who the fuck are you to tell me I can do one but not the other when your country is based on the importing and exporting of substances. I have lived in New Orleans most of my life where one can literally drink him or herself into nothingness in The Risin' Sun but get caught with herbs and its like Vegas, why? Because the State Troopers in Louisiana run the Video Poker machines, which unlike the machines here in Cali, they pay in real money not boobs. Legal gambling in most 24 hour bars... ;)

Although I think pot should be legal, I'll be surprised if that passes the vote. But if any state could make it happen, it's Nevada.

I'm going down first thing in the morning to vote for it, but I don't think it will pass...Vegas' "ugly little secret" is that there are a whole shitload of mormons here...Mormons vote, pot smokers don't.....it'll be a ncie effort, but won't pass.......

my prediction when this was first put on the ballot: 45-55 fail
now, I figure 35-65 fail, if it even gets 35% of the vote....

the scarier inititive is the "what is the legal definition of marriage" initiative....basically a way for the Mormons to kick the gays in the balls regarding same sex unions (for benefits, hospital visitation,eetc.)....Mormons tend to vote more than gays do, so this will pass...

I live in Nevada and I say the odds are less than 50/50. It's a start but I seriously doubt people are ready for pot legalization yet. I saw some good commercials on TV encouraging people to vote yes on Prop 9, not because they want people to be able to smoke in their homes but to allow law enforcement to worry about more important stuff, which might make sense to a lot of people. I think most people don't see pot as a harmful drug, but as far as legalizing it for anyone, that's taking it pretty far! I seriously hope it does cuz it's long overdue but I think it will take a few more tries and a lot of public education before something like that passes.....part of the problem is that a lot of potheads are too lazy to go out and vote, half of them probably don't even realize it's on the ballot!

The real question is whether the government has the right to tell you do do anything. How come a group of men, calling themselves "the government" are as a collective, able to determine what is right and what is wrong for YOUR body. I dont think its a fine line - I think its a line that doesn't exist. No one has that right in my opinion.

Hundreds of laws need to be writen or re-writen all at the expense of the tax payer just so that some people who can't be high on life can smoke it up in public.

1) The "US constitution" is a piece of paper that was signed by a few men a couple of hundred years ago. It was never accepted by any sort of populace - it wasn't even voted upon (not that a vote would mean it was accepted anyway). It was simply put into place. I certainly never agreed to its terms, nor did you - so really the only people it applies to are those who did - and they are all dead now. So don't give me bullshit about how I've never read the constitution. If you want a more in depth analysis, read the work of Lysander Spooner and economist Murray Rothbard. :thumbsup

2) You should read what I say - I said that no one has a right, or even the capability to determine what should or should not be put into MY body. If you want the government to tell you you should drink flourinated water which creates a build up of aluminum which causes a shitload of diseases, I invite you to go drink from your sink RIGHT NOW.

3) I've been all over this world, and the USA isn't the shining beakon of hope you think it is, pal. There are many reasons for this, but its mostly due to left wing politics, currency destabilization and the current litigious atmosphere.

I've smoked weed in the post - i didnt like it, it gave a huge headache everytime I smoked it. My friends were telling me that I would get used to it, Like hell
