Best on-line poker site to learn the game.
spam me. i really want to learn the game. so sick of losing.
(besides Satan Cash) |
You have to play to learn mostly. Take the bad beats, with the big wins.
Set a limit... Set it low. $20.00 or something. Do your best to see as many flops as possible, without spending much. Once you see your cards, THINK about what could someone else possibly have that could beat you???? If there's a few hands out there that can beat yours, either fold, or make your decision based on how the other person is betting. Some people bet strong to try and buy the pot when they know you could possibly take them. Learn when to CALL, RAISE or RE-RAISE! That's very important. Don't fold when someone raises you. That's what they are trying to get you to do. Use logic, and read people to make informed decisions about when to bet. Hope this helps. |
by doyles book super system 2... poker stars and full tilt are both good

Let me clarify this a little...
"Don't fold when someone raises you" If you're holding 7/2 Off Suit... and the flop is KKA, Turn is a Q and someone raises you... You never should have bet on a KKA flop against your crappy hand of 7/2 Off. You should never have stuck around to see that Q. Fold. |
Thanks Voodoo.. will keep that in mind. and thanks for giving me extra tips on icq ;)
I hope you wont mind if I ask you few questions in the future. |

I played for about a year and was doing ok , but after reading Dan Harrington's series of poker books on tourney play my ROI shot up. I suggest those 3 books. He has a cash game book that came out this year that I'm going to pick up soon too. Good luck.

twoplustwo is definitely the place to start reading. Especially check out the FAQ's in their stickies. There's some incredibly good reading in there.
To play completely free, partypoker.net has some pretty big tournaments starting every hour. All the major sites have some play money tables. Playing the free games is not the same as when money is involved though, obviously. You can learn a lot of general things from the free tournaments, but you'll definitely need to make adjustments against players who are going for real money. |
