Good Router To Buy?

I'm looking for a new router for my cable internet for my home, since my old router continuously drops connection. Can anyone recommend any good routers that dont drop connection?

I have had zero problems with Linksys for home / home office use:
Wired: BEFSR41
Wireless: WRT54G

I have the D-Link Gamer Lounge, and it's the best I've owned. Thinking about upgrading to a dual WAN one (probably made by Syswan) soon.

I had a WRT54G but after some research over at [H]ard I went with the newer DIR-655 with the 3-antenna design and a matching wireless card. So far so good.

What advantages do you gain by updating firmware?

The firmware Linksys provides for their routers is shit. A lot of the features work poorly. Using 3rd party firmware makes it much better. You can tweak out you router more i n depth. Increase your wifi signal. Monitor your monthly bandwidth (useful if you're a Comcast user) and much more. Check out www.dd-wrt.com for more info and screen shots.

I'm not sure if it comes with the 3rd party firmware but I know it's specifically built for 3rd party firmware. I have the WRT54G Version 2 so switching to DD-WRT was simple other newer versions tend to be more difficult but not impossible.

Check out these articles below for more info if interested.
