why the FUCK can't I get NATS installed?

I've been thru about four techs, 15 or 20k in fees, and I STILL can't find a tech who can do a simple NATS install without flaking. What the fuck?

Where have all the good programmers gone?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-22-2008 02:14 PM

Ya could had Jon's team do the install and sent me the check for what ever the amount the money would have saved you.

How the fuck, I mean THE FUCK! HOW do you spend $20,000 bucks on a fucking program install?

I guess it's safe to say you only pay retards.
So hold the check.

tranza 10-22-2008 02:15 PM

dig420 10-22-2008 02:15 PM

Oh god...

Don't make my head hurt. I am sorry for even posting in this thread.

Ya could have paid me 10,000 and I would have done it and I do not even know how to, but 10,000 I think I could learn real fucking quick!:)

PS: Out the scammers name so they don't fuck other guys here!

Brujah 10-22-2008 02:18 PM

Ouch. Is NATS that difficult to install? I hope it's not that difficult to use once it's installed.

GrouchyAdmin 10-22-2008 02:19 PM

What do you need? Feel free to drop me an email with any gateways, sites, or anything else required, and I'll hit you back with an estimate.

If it's NATS 4, though, I won't touch it. It's not stable enough that I want to be involved.

Dude its PHP, how hard could it be?
LOL! Create Database, create DB fields, create exceptions, install script. Cross fingers, check file permissions...

Having a third party install it?
NATS charges a $250 installation fee + $500 setup and training.

Deej 10-22-2008 02:21 PM

NATS is cake to install - either you have some host issues that dont allow simple shit ... or you truly got scammed

20k is a bit excessive isnt it?

I forgot, you invented nats :1orglaugh

uno 10-22-2008 02:22 PM

I thought TMM installs it themselves, no?

He probably bought the one time license fee for $19,500.
Then didnt spend $250 to install it? :)

fuck yeah... it's not totally simple, NATS and ES have to work concurrently for at least a two week period and all info has to be imported from ES to NATS as well. I think that's been the problem.

If every server was setup the same, same os, same admins, same host... then "maybe" and nats is way hell more than php and a db and an install script..

I have been sending quite a few away recently due to time constraints - but if you just need something simple and not custom, having TMM do it is your cheapest alternative.

You wanted to move from ES, right? I didn't take the job due to a lack of ES experience. I didn't want you to pay to "train" me; that wouldn't be fair.

They may install it but do they set up the sites for you and make sure that prior tracking systems convert over properly? I don't think they do that stuff... not really sure though. A lot of people require custom work though that they do not cover.

stevo 10-22-2008 02:27 PM

My advise - definitely go through NATS, there's always going to be some minor little problem or backdoor issue that only their techs will be able to solve "simply".

yeah I talk to Boris or John about every day.

Dirty D 10-22-2008 02:35 PM

It sounds like the issues are integration, conversion, concurrency and seamless tracking...

NOT installation.
The base NATS install is simple and probably already been done by TMM.

True tech expertise is what is needed to cover the other issues.

This is probably an accurate summation of the problem. :thumbsup

dig420 10-22-2008 02:54 PM

Just want to make it clear that the problem IS NOT with nats, TMM has been nothing but helpful and active trying to make this work and if it was just a simple NATS install this would be cake. The problem is with the concurrent tracking and importing and my shitty hiring skills lol... I think this thread might fix that though, getting a much better response than the last couple times I came in here and cried about it.

Take my advice...do it yourself. Its a bitch the first time but its well worth knowing how your own biz operates. It is not easy like most will boast about, but its worth walking the walk for knowledge purposes.

Dude, what they are doing, like .5% of the entire Webmaster population can help with. What they are doing has taken MONTHS.

If you don't have any skills in nats, very advanced webmastering, coding, graphics, html, database, code, servers... your ass isn't moving .00001% into this project.

That's why it takes 5-8 months to do mergers.

EDIT: My Post was useless ignore it or read my sig.
