Al-Qaida backs McCain as president - Threatens terror attack
 

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.

The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

SITE Intelligence Group, based in Bethesda, Md., monitors the Web site and translated the message.

"If al-Qaida carries out a big operation against American interests," the message said, "this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaida. Al-Qaida then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it."

lets see, they have said from the get go that the way to fight and beat the US is to do so by using our fears and to bankrupt our nation. As a terrorist one would also want to inflate fear (terror) by any means. I know if someone says hey lets attack them before so and so, or on November 1st there shall be an attack somewhere. If they attack that day the location still is a surprise and everyone is still terrified, if they do not attack - well everyone is still terrified and either way it costs us money and scares people. That alone is the way terrorism works.

I see your point, and I agree with the idea of what youre saying.

However...after he lied, he stepped down from his position and denounced the lies and the administration. From my perspective he was just doing what all good military men do...what the people above him ask.

They used him as a sacrificial lamb because they knew he had absurd amounts of credibility. Im not saying that absolves him of any responsibility...but to a certain extent I think he was just doing his job.

So you are admitting he committed high crimes and treason and in someway I/we should trust him now? And that his endorsement of Obama is good? :disgust

I personally dont put any real stock in endorsements. I look at the issues and vote accordingly.

Does he know what he's talking about in terms of national security and military action? Absolutely.

The mans entire career is flawless except for when he was pushed to do something immoral by the Bush administration. In the military, you're taught to do whatever your commanding officers ask of you, regardless of whether its right or wrong.

We also don't know all the elements that went into him saying what he said. Perhaps he was spoonfed intelligence to support what they wanted him to say. That particular situation is not nearly as black and white as youre trying to make it out to be.
