I think it depends on the type of scene they are watching.

I think most surfers have the sound off or very low. Myself I keep it off.

heres a couple points i think most surfers agree with
- sound that starts automatically on tours - no way
- trailers with sound can help the site convert so much better. there is a lot that can be conveyed with sound. however, if the wife or kids are downstairs, chances are they are surfing with no sound.
-sound adds another dimension

Sound low or off. You don't want your GF, wife or kids sneaking up on you while you're pumping a warm turkey with your headphones on.

I think it really depends if they have family or people living with them, or not.

When I had a roommate back in college I used to use headphones. Now that I live alone, I couldn't care less...

I think that would depend on if they live with others, especially with children around. If your alone then sound on but if you need to worry about others walking around and hearing what your doing then sound off or headset.
I prefer the sound on unless I happen to come across a scene where the moans are as fake as her tits then its the sound off definitely.

I think sound is important and that self starting videos with sound on tours is the most stupid way to not make sales

I learned in video school, sound is 60 percent of the video experience.

I always have sound on because I don't want to miss any crucial plot points.
