Guy makes $100K/yr farming gold in World of Warcraft

Sounds like a good system!

Thats creative...

JamesK 10-17-2008 01:27 AM

1.5 million gold a month... fuck. Just selling that would be a 24/7 job

DarkJedi 10-17-2008 01:28 AM

there are people making FAR more than that, farming WOW golds

JamesK 10-17-2008 01:30 AM

I'm not sure if it's real though, sounds like creative spam for the glider bot. That guy has no reason for posting all that information if he really made that much.

Bojangles 10-17-2008 01:31 AM

Wow.....

Intervader 10-17-2008 01:33 AM

Its not that unimaginable. We have people that earn good money buying and selling our virtual currency called "Rays". I suspect that soon we will have users earning that kind of cash just by socializing in our world.

KillerK 10-17-2008 01:34 AM

No way...

It's too hard to deliver that much gold each day.

You're underestimating the need to get recognized. Nerds seeks confirmation they are actually quite cool. So this guy may brag his ass off on what he makes.

ya, a lot of people brag for coolness confirmation. a lot of that happens on a board called gfy if you havent seen it happen yourself.

InternetIsForPorn 10-17-2008 03:00 AM

This can pretty much be real.

I was making like 4-5k/mo when WOW initially came out on this shit. But the bans got to me.

WinstonTriplexcash 10-17-2008 03:21 AM

Its all about knowing what you got and how to make use of it :pimp

I have a friend that was involved working for the people that made the glider bot. They got sued by blizzard and lost their asses in the court case. I'm sure there will be appeals though. He was making about 5K a month gliding just part time and another 3K month as a part time tech support person on their forum, but he had contacts and knew where to sell the gold, plus he sold characters.

Making what this guy says he makes could be done, but it really would be difficult and you would have to put in a lot of hours and have a lot of outlets for that gold. The guy says he has gotten 150 accounts canceled so far in one year. that isn't too bad if you are making the kind of money he is making.

There are companies in China and southeast Asia that used to make millions per month selling gold, but these days it is so easy and fast to make gold in the game I would imagine the selling has slowed down some, but maybe not. On his site he is selling gold for $20 for 1000 gold. At that rate he has to find a lot of customers in order to make that kind of cash. If he sold it on his own that is over 415 transactions a month that he has to process and transfer. I guess though, if he is just babysitting the computers and letting them glide he has time to find the buyers.

I'm not sure why people find this so interesting. Its just like any other job; If you work at it you can profit. There is absolutely NO job security though since your whole system is based on something that is a violation of blizzards TOS.

I have friends who made tens of thousands when the station exchange was launched in EQ2 (exploiting dupe bugs). It took far less effort than this.

We have been developing it for around 4 years now but have been flying relatively under the radar until our product was ready to go into Beta. We only started pushing it hard for the last year or so. Just crossed 2 million users a few months ago. :)

Are the Rays from RLC?

You can make a few thousand gold in just a couple of days on WoW especially if you are level. I am not real serious at it and that is about what I do.

Fletch XXX 10-17-2008 07:26 AM

just creating new accounts as his accounts get banned is a full time job. LOL

this is the same as any illegal trade, youll get popped eventually and lose all your hard work.

it is against the TOS of WOW to do this, so its not long term.

Yep. My buddy that worked with Glider saw that income disappear once the lawsuit ended. he was smart enough not to quit his day job and just saved the extra money he made doing this so it was no big loss. But anytime you build a business based on someone else's business and doing so violates their terms you know the end will eventually come.
