AlphaRed - How to cancel ???

To all the former AlphaRed customers ... did you cancel your account and how? Did you send them a ticket, delete your credit card info etc. ?

I had a server at AlphaRed, moved the sites - obviously I do not want to be charged for an open invoice (due in 10 days), on the other hand my server is still online...

tradermcduck 10-16-2008 01:16 PM

so no reply to my question ... ouch :Oh crap

Boss Traffic Jim 10-16-2008 01:23 PM

Since they are known for charging your CC, I would do this to be safe.

1) send in an officail cancellation email.

2) Call your CC bank and tell them you lost that card and to reissue a new card and number.

Then they cannot continue to charge you.:2 cents:

change your cc number on file!! and notify your cc company if i was you!! only people at alphared now is mack, and hes trying to get everyone switched over to megauploads new hosting company

WebairGerard 10-16-2008 01:45 PM

I would call my CC company and request a change ASAP to be safe. Kill that card. :2 cents:

WiredGuy 10-16-2008 03:29 PM

Changing a credit card number doesn't stop the charges from existing merchants to keep billing you. It only stops new ones. You'd need to report the card as stolen to stop all charges.

Eriic 10-16-2008 04:30 PM

Stick it out, they are good guys who have scummy traits.......No big deal...

famous 10-16-2008 05:34 PM

Yep i had a company that would not stop billing me a few years ago. The CC company advised me to report it stolen, so i did and all fixed :) 4 days later i had new cards.

Lamis 10-16-2008 05:43 PM

Reporting a Card as stolen to cancel a service sounds stupid.

I mean, if everytime you need to cancel a service, you need to report a Card as Stolen, then there is something just fucking wrong.

Dude we are not talking about some reputable company here. These guys are known thieves so you may as well take the 3 mins it will take to report the card stolen so you can protect your money.:2 cents:

Ahh.. excellent solution.. so you basically report as stolen a card every time u need to cancel a service. Well done lol..

Humans have brain u know.

JamesK 10-16-2008 08:39 PM

Just cancel it like you would cancel any host. And if they still keep charging you, file a dispute and call your credit card company and see if they can block it automaticly (I'm not sure if that's possible but it's worth giving a try).

ok, dude where do you live? In Africa? Wait, even in Africa you can make your CC issuing bank block unwanted charges!

Report yuor card stolen just to avoid unwanted charge? That makes as much sense as asking a black guy stick his cock up your ass so you don't get raped :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Best suggestion given, This will avoid all potential biolling issues that "could" arise down the road from these clowns.

I 've had my CC number jacked before. I told the bank, they removed the charges but refused to give me a new CC number... I had to eventually tell them I lost the card before they would give me a new CC number.

Brad Mitchell 10-17-2008 10:22 AM

Dude they are completely out of business, you don't have to cancel. Just cancel your credit card as stolen and move on.

Brad

You've obviously never known someone who works sales at a health club... Best example for why you need to report your card stolen, putting a block on it does not work worth a shit, trust me.

What takes more time and resource?
A) Calling in, reporting card stolen, getting new card in about 7 days or less, being done with it.
or
B) Blocking card, watching to see if charges still go thru, disputting charges when they go thru (because they will), continuing to watch for new charges, disputing those new charges again...

when thier are reports of people being billed for xx,xxx on thier cards that were not suspose to I would sleep much better at night knowing the card is dead. I can live without a CC for 4-7 days till i get a new one. Piece of mind is worth its weight in gold :)
