Did Pail actually say this today?

Ok I had the news on this morning and was half assed listening too it. I could have swore Palin said this in her speech today.

"John McCain got shot down and captured by the enemy, he knows how to win wars"

:1orglaugh

edit title.. "Palin"

She has said things like that before, or very close... So I'm sure that did spew out of her mouth.

Since John McCain started to run for President we all the sudden won Vietnam.

Oh wow, that sounds like Iraq too...

What is killing me is everyone keeps calling him a war hero..... what is war hero about getting captured 5 minutes after you land? He is a survivor, not a hero...... lmao

Thats called fear mongering, and it's exactly what Bush would do.

To me what makes him a hero is that they offered to let him go early. He asked if the guys that were captured before him would be going and when he found out they weren't he stayed so that they could go. So to me volunteering to stay when you know you are going to get beat so that others can leave is pretty heroic.

Oh, ouch.. much much more to that story.

He was offered it because of his Dad. To take it would have had to admit his Gov was wrong, all that bs. By the time this was offered, the torture had stopped. Lots of PoW's got the same offer, and stayed...

It's brotherhood, the standing don't go home first.........

The way I understood it they still beat him and he even tried to kill himself once after he turned down the release offer. Then about 6-9 months later the torture started to decline and life was not as bad.

Still, to me, political reasoning or not, when you are offered the chance to leave a POW camp and turn it down because others are in front of you in line or because others are hurt worse than you, that is pretty heroic.
