What Do Americans Know About Politics...

...not much, it seems...

"Participants were asked to name the controlling party of the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. secretary of state and Great Britain's prime minister. Overall, just 18 percent of participants answered all three questions correctly."

How about you? All three correctly?

Faux News= Average Joes? I guess if by "Average Joe" you mean "easily brainwashed by neo-cons lies"

Sorry now those that KNOW Faux News is pro-GOP network but sill watch beause they basically part of the chior that likes to be preached too, then fine. Those that watch Faux News and actually believe it's "fair & blanced" and is a credible source of news are fucking dolts who should have their voting rights taken away.

Correct on the first two... I had no idea who the prime minister was, it isn't something I care to remember. I just call him the jack ass prime minister and everyone in the world knows your talking about the UK.

So if someone in the UK didn't know who Bush was, you wouldn't find that a little worrying?

DutchTeenCash 10-16-2008 08:28 AM

they know what they have to know

most people - not just americans - arent interested in foreign politics unless it has consequences for their own country

If Americans didn't know the UK had a Queen, then yes. I'm sure more people know her name than some prime minister that didn't help start an illegal war. The mass majority don't care who he is.. they have no reason to care.

cwd 10-16-2008 08:38 AM

I would bet that most Americans know there is a Queen in the UK, but they would have no idea what her name is. I think you are right though, the mass majority don't care who the Prime Minister is, which says alot of the mass majorities thoughts towards the rest of the world. It is sadly funny that the mass majority also can't understand why so much of the world does not like the United States...

I have no reason to care who he is, why would I?

Does that mean I haven't heard his name before? Nope.. It means I don't care enough to remember. I lived in Canada too, no idea what those peoples names are either but I know they have a prime minister, which is all I need to know.

I am just not convinced by polls that throw in some dumb question to throw off the results and then go public with the data as if it proves anything.

Oh look, the brits cant name the Governor of Louisiana, what does that have to do with anything? it doesnt. Which is why I made my statement. The question was about "politics" not "foreign leaders" Get a clue.

Next thing you guys gonna be mad because we dont have a queen too?

LOL, fuck the queen too

Ask if Americans knew who the last UK prime minister was.... I bet far more people can answer that question.

Why? They had a reason to care.... now they don't, and why would they with all the bullshit going on inside our own Country?

Because he is one of the most powerful people on the planet? Along with Bush, Putin and Hu Jinato.

Umm, The equivalent to Gordon Brown would be George Bush, as he is the prime minister/president. Keep showing your ignorance, the strange thing is you are flaunting it. :1orglaugh

cwd 10-16-2008 09:03 AM

Throw out the question on UK Prime Minister (even though the United States and the United Kingdom share the world's largest foreign direct investment partnership not to mention military partnership on the war on terror) and only 1 in 2 could say who had the majority in the House and 42% new Rice was our Secretary of State. I wonder how many in the US outside of Louisiana could name the Governor? I'm gonna guess its around the Prime Minister numbers...

Stellar 10-16-2008 09:05 AM

I know Gordon Brown is the prime minister, but I still fucking hate whiny cunts who nag Americans all the time.

When push comes to shove,

I would much rather meet you on the battlefield with my fellow Americans rather than with your frivolous bastards.

Take it all out of the equation and we still own you with sheer physical dominance.

Our blood lust knows no bounds, we will remain #1 until our death.

Suck it up and learn to live with it, and before you go talking negative horse shit again, write up a pro's and con's list and check our contributions at the front door before opening your mouth on how awful we are.

I'm pretty sure the UK prime minister has to get permissions / votes, to take a shit. He has power to pressure for votes, but now real power to decide anything. He is a semi-president, not on scale with ours at all.

In short, he is a fall guy when things go wrong so the crown doesn't have to deal with the bullshit, that's why they 'allowed' that position to happen.

Ours has true power, even before Bush added more.

Sorry if my UK understanding is a bit off, dumb Americans and all.

Thanks for letting me know I was correct, and I went and looked and I was :)

BTW, My Dad, entire side of that family, lives in the UK, my dad is British.

So whatever info I have that "might" be incorrect, was told to me from Brits directly.
