A couple general observations from someone who has been in this business since before half you guys good legally look at porn...

I shoot porn and the girls I work with are, obviously, much more open about it than the average woman. I usually have a stack of men's magazines around for posing and makeup inspiration. The girls invariably gravitate to these and read them intently. They'd be happy to spend all day looking at girl pictures. However, I'd be willing to bet that almost none of these girls buy nudie magazines.

If any of the pics are of couples having sex, the girls might comment on a guy being a hunk or having an unusual penis, but once again, no hint that they'd want to spend any money to see more of the pics.

Online, these girls might cruise around to look at more girls but it would be rare for a girl to subscribe to a website.

Generally, guys are more visual than girls. Guys use their imaginations yes and visual objects more for masturbation stimuli. Girls like sexy stories quite a bit, guys hardly at all.

If you can figure out how to tap the female porn market, go ahead and do it. I personally don't see where there is much money to be made.

This "niche" comes and then goes away every so often. CJ will chide me for saying it, but most women don't and won't pay for porn. That's a fact. We could get into a deep discussion about why that is, but it's been done a million times.

Maybe try it in 40 years once a few generations of women have grown up on the Internet. :)

I think this is a generational issue. Romance novels are porn for older women. Younger girls are more comfortable with sex and with porn and more and more of them will become porn consumers.

Try marketing erotic fiction to men without PICTURES - it doesn't sell well. Try marketing it to women - well some people call it trash but harliquin make major coin doing it without any pictures.

Women are not visually stimulated to the degree men are, and things that hold a womans interest for any period of time are not the same, regardless of studies or anything else.

I rarely if ever read erotic fiction. But I enjoying watching porn all the time. I was making a distinction between "romance novels" and "erotic fiction".

I will not disagree that many women like erotic fiction, probably more than they enjoy looking at porn. But the real question is why? It has nothing to do with men being more visually stimulated than women... that's a crock of shit. I'd like to see any real proof of that.

It's because most of the images created in today's society are created to cater to men.... in porn and in advertising.

Even the attempts at porn for women horribly miss the mark, that's why they don't sell.

Another major reason is it's still considered a taboo for women to look at and enjoy porn. Unbelievably it's still considered a taboo for women to have sex at all. Why is it still ok for a man to fuck but not for a woman?

I don't see where it's taboo for women to look at it or enjoy it, but I also do not send women running to their purses to pay for it either. Not at the newstands -- I would bet Playgirl and the like do 10% of the sales as comparable mens magazines.

Personally and from a business standpoint, I am DELIGHTED that men still think that porn is taboo -- if they didn't they sure as hell wouldn't be paying for it online like they do now. Gay men, maybe, but the fact is, if everyone was open about sex, had no problem with swingers, fetishes, fantasies and that sort of thing, there would be very little money in this business.

So far, nothing besides porn has consistently shown itself to be a viable product on the internet. I don't see non adult people getting rich, I see them getting pink slips and unemployment checks.

This discussion about porn for women has been going on for years, and no one has come up with a model that makes money like straight porn or gay porn FOR men.

Couples probably has a market, but to expect women to start looking at porn by themselves in droves and there to be big money, or even medium money in it, it's probably not going to happen in the next five years like it hasn't in the last five.

There's nothing wrong with that -- and there is no reason NOT to make sites for women, just do it with realistic expectations -- build a site that you would like and then see if other women like it, that's the only thing I can tell you about it.

I had 1 or 2 sponsor's a few years ago thought they had it figured out (can't rememeber which 1's) I thought it was a great ideal.... shit I didn't get 1 sign up... just put up a small Free gay site about 2 weeks ago put link's to it from my main pages... a great day is, I send 100 hit's to it. I'll keep it up for 6 months though, see if I get some traffic with search engine's... so I would say I don't have very many women surfing to my sites..:1orglaugh That is if women like gay porn... and most of my traffic is search engine.
