Had a decent amount of money stolen by a merchant account provider who seemed too eager for my business. :( Live and learn.

When I worked for Jaguar in NYC as a service advisor. Im at my desk and I get a call. Hi Anthony this is Dr Goldman you take car of my jag and I need your help.I say what can I do for you? He says my son in law is in the area and left his wallet at the office, can you lend him $80 bucks. He has to pick up medicine at the drug store for my grandson. I will come in after work, give you back the money and take care of you. I say no problem Doc. About an hour later a very nicely dressed man comes in says he is Dr Goldman's son in law.I give him the eighty bucks and off he goes.
5pm no Dr Goldman, 5:30 pm no Dr Goldman by 6pm I decide to check the computer which was sitting in front of me all this time for a Dr Goldman and guess what no Dr Goldman. lol

Wow, this really takes me back. In between High School and College I worked for a company called Omni Electronics in Ft Lauderdale, Fl. doing this. We would go out in teams of two with a van full of speakers wearing company polo shirts and carrying laminated sales material that showed the value of the speakers at $2999, even though they were really junk that sounded good at first but were very low quality. We would tell people we delivered the speakers to night clubs and bars and the company accidentally put an extra set on the van and they are not on our shipping bill, so we would offer to sell them for $300. The way it worked is the company wanted $100 per every set of speakers we sold, and anything over that we could keep, so we could go as low as $150 a set to make sure everyone got paid. I had weeks where I was making a few grand selling these speakers, and I was only 18 at the time. I quit after I started college, and I remember a few weeks later A Current Affair ran a piece about the company that did this and how it worked that killed the business...

96ukssob 10-13-2008 12:12 PM

years ago in college i fell for one of those paypal scams where your account needs some kind of attention and you enter your user name and password to login. I had no idea it was a fake website at the time, but I lost a huge amount of money I had in the account, plus they took money out of my bank account. it was a mess and right before i was going on spring break so i had almost no money

kane 10-13-2008 12:17 PM

Several years ago I met a chick off the internet. We have a nice lunch then she asks if I want to go back to her place with her. She explained that her roommate works nights and she had to wait for her roommate to leave for the night before we head over there. No problem. I give her $20 and watch her play some video poker then she makes z call and says, "My roommate stayed home from work tonight." I'm not sure what to say then she continues, "I really want to have sex with you. Do you just want to get a hotel room?" I agree. She is pretty good looking and it sounds like fun. We go to this hotel a few blocks from where we met and she tells me, "The manager is actually a guy that lives next door to me. He will give me a good deal. We can get the room for $50 instead of $75 if you let me go in and get it." Again I agree. I park, give her the money and she gets out. She walks up towards the office then continues around the corner and never goes inside. I get out and walk over to see where she is and she is gone.

She got me for lunch, $20 in video poker and $50 in cash. I should have known something was up but as she played poker she had me grabbing her ass then in the car she spent the entire ride rubbing my dick through my pants so my brain wasn't working right. :) She was slick, she should be an actress.

MLM about 20 years ago. Marriage about 26 years ago. I learned my lesson and never repeated the mistakes twice :)

I bought some poo once, (unseen)

After I had paid, it turned out to be a load of shit...

notime 10-13-2008 12:49 PM

15 years ago buying used NES nintendo games; fucked for 36K (the guy split)
10 years ago buying the entire European Nintendo stock thru an agent; 400K (deposit vanished)
6 years ago: lending money to somebody in the family: 150K (bankrupty)
1 year ago selling one of our stores to a guy (he did not pay the rent); 200K (bankrupty)
6 months ago; one of our oldest dvd wholesale clients goes bust; more K's. FUCK (bankrupty)
Currently; mikey, mikey...where are you...come out, come out where ever you are..

So my new rule is; no more credit period, no more buying from people I dont know 5 years+ and have a good rep. (which I verify in ALL possible ways).

I've had it now with stories & bullshit. Buy what you can afford or fuck off (GFY).
I'd rather NOT sell then feel bad for losing shit.
For those honest people out there; I go OUT OF MY WAY for you 24/7/365 !

CarlosTheGaucho 10-14-2008 07:02 AM

Most ridiculous?

Two gypsies selling me a camera,

I don't know how that was even possible as far as it's widely known these troppers always have the worst and crudest junk one can ever find.

So I had to be hypnotised or something cause I am seeing these guys hitting on me trying to sell me watches / cameras etc. and it's like 10 minutes later when I realize I've just bought the worst piece of junk with absolutely no value whatsoever.

Those guys had some skills.

Lycanthrope 10-14-2008 07:10 AM
