People get what they wish for or believe in.
Sales up 30% this month here.
Never loose faith. Fight !!!

SilentKnight 10-10-2008 03:54 PM

The past two weeks have been record sales for us.

Then again, we always seem to do exceptionally well during economic slumps - dunno why.

RP Fade 10-10-2008 03:57 PM

Ratios down a tad, but overall a good start to the weekend :thumbsup

C-Luv 10-10-2008 03:59 PM

-never loose faith or give up
-always fight & be positive
-adapt or die.
-never spend more then is wise unless it gains somehow
-be prepared to learn no matter what
-use money wisely and save for shitty times

The day you give up is the day you loose.
There are always (!) willing paying customers out there.

You made a sale ?

Funny how new guys say it's better than it was before.
Everything is relative.

GFY is dead, so I'm not sure business is that good for the majority of adult webmasters.

Hazlewood 10-10-2008 06:59 PM

stay strong...keep your head above the water and better days will be ahead

tony286 10-10-2008 07:50 PM

its off by about 25 percent for us this year. The problem will be cc companies are reducing open credit. Look at your rebills its seems the amount not going thru is growing.

Jim_Gunn 10-10-2008 08:04 PM

I have a single niche blog that was making steady sales in June, July, August and September for membership signups, webcam sales and clip sales but ever since this economic crisis the last couple of weeks have been almost dead! It's very frustrating.

Ace_luffy 10-10-2008 09:25 PM

stay tuned.....

rock-reed 10-10-2008 09:30 PM

Torrents and Tubes are growing exponentially.

Today's porn buying generation has an "everything is free" mindset...

Just as with music.

GAMEFINEST 10-10-2008 09:43 PM

Freud called it "repetition compulsion" ... people just asking for more and more pain :), heh.

rick-e 10-10-2008 09:47 PM

ratio's are down for sure :(

Stellar 10-10-2008 10:01 PM

Just no denying it now, sales are suffering for sure.

Terrible for me because I'm in between sponsors and doing "traffic tests" does not yield trustworthy results at the moment, so I'm having a really difficult time doing my litmus tests.

Where as before you could easily gauge what is converting and what isn't, now it's a bit clouded with these inflated ratios.

SeanLEE 10-10-2008 10:17 PM

This is a nightmare for me- a nightmare.... I market so many diverse sponsors- and nothing is selling!!!!! My American traffic isnt worth shit!:Oh crap

dynastoned 10-10-2008 10:29 PM

porn site stats for today...

Total 1751 1318 1 1:1318 $12.90
Totals 805 0 0 0 0:805 1 0 $ 0.00 $14.97
CCBill $14.35 1 5,784 1:5784.0
Totals 113 1 $35 1:113
Total 0 1 1 7201 4353 860 1:4353 1 $11.94

dating/cams for today....

Totals 672 5 0 $0.00 1:134 n/a
Total 665 26 1:25 1 1:665 $35.00
TOTAL 371 1:13 28 1:14 2 $70.00
TOTALS 1280 587 12M, 1F 1 $0.00 $130.00
Total 740 462 3 26.97 1:154 0 0.00 $0.058 $26.97

i just posted totals without sponsor names because i didn't want to hurt anyones feelings. also the only traffic that wasn't search engine traffic in this entire post was the first total in the dating/cams area.

make your own conclusions. but imo porn just doesn't sell that well. call it tube sites, call it rapidshare, call it recession, whatever.. stats don't lie.

amateurcanada 10-10-2008 10:34 PM

Business can be slow around now. I recommend harnessing your EU and international sales. Sometimes slowdowns can happen in certain geographic regions :)

mynameisjim 10-10-2008 11:31 PM

The problem with these threads is that some people either don't realize or don't care that their personal sales can be doing well while the industry as a whole is in decline.

For example, a paysite I'm associated with and launched earlier this year has been growing month after month, but based on the other sites I promote as an affiliate, I can see that my personal growth is not representative of the industry as a whole.

Not to mention a big program I use to push stopped putting out new FGHs and the "new" sites they just launched are all old recycled content from previous sites under a different name. They are obviously struggling.

At last someone telling the truth. Anyone who telling us they're doing as well this month as last is unique or lying. Most of them boasting are sponsors I suspect. When you sign up to their program and see how well they do you will know if they're honest or not.

The West, where we all get 90% of our business from, is in a financial crisis. People will be watching very closely what they spend. And watching what they spend it on. As for loading a credit card with more debt, I don't think so.

We are down both on content store sales, custom and paysite joins. And got the balls to admit it.

No Tube sites do not give the porn buyer what he wants all the time. They give him an alternative to what we sell him. If you have something unique, high quality, good and true porn you will be fine. If you're offering the same porn as 10,000 other sites you will suffer.

Recently I have been looking at Tubes and the content. If it's stolen from paysites or DVDs then it's small wonder paysites and DVD sales are down. Most of it is cloned boring crap. Paying $30 for a month or a DVD of it is the last thing I would do.

But we all know it's down to traffic so just send more clicks and tell people in a recession you're doing even better. :warning :warning :warning

Sloane 10-11-2008 12:03 AM

my sales this month are way down...getting lots of refunds too. Been doing this since 2001, definately the worst I have seen.

VeriSexy 10-11-2008 12:18 AM

Pete-KT 10-11-2008 03:47 PM

We had a record day in sales today

Manowar 10-11-2008 03:50 PM

ratios down a bit here, but traffic is up

Nautilus 10-11-2008 04:13 PM

Tubes are shit, but with their "help" I was finally able to figure what a boring crap 99% of what our industry produces is. No wonder people do not want to pay for it. And those couches... Just imagine how surfers are sick of them already.

Sites that have unique touch to them should do better than ever nowadays.

Robbie 10-11-2008 04:35 PM

Hey guys...back in 2001 and 2002 people were screaming that sales were off and the "industry" was through. Problem was they were all pushing the old Max Cash and ARS stuff. What they didn't realize was that "Reality" sites were taking off like a motherfucker. Nasty Dollars was large and in charge. But to hear the majority of the webmasters the "industry" was dead.

mynameisjim, you made a good point. But what if you reversed that line of thinking? Perhaps the sales you are doing IS representative of the "industry".

I can't sell a damn membership to save my soul to any of the big generic "mega-sites" anymore. That shit is all over the tubes. Yet, my claudia-marie.com site is growing and growing.

Just like in 2002, I didn't base any conclusions about the "industry" on sales to programs that had fallen out of favor. I simply looked to the next big thing. The big thing then was "reality" sites.

In actuality...2001 and 2002 were HUGE moneymaking years in this "industry"...but about half of the guys that had been making good money the previous 5 years just didn't change it up. They stuck to their old pop-ups, and 404 traps and kept building those stupid little "Freesites" that were just a warning page and then a couple of pics with a link to the site...and then when they couldn't make money anymore they declared the "industry" dead.

It wasn't. And it isn't. You just need to think like a surfer. Yes, you can go to the tube and torrents and see a shitload of free porn.

So what you should do is go there and see which ones of the affiliate programs you use are all over the place for free. Then take a close look at the remaining affiliate programs.

Which ones have EXCLUSIVE content, member interaction, and have protected their content and kept it off of the tubes and torrents? And if it's a niche...then it's pure gold.

d-null 10-11-2008 05:28 PM

agree with most of what you are saying Robbie, but unfortunately that strategy will save only a very small segment of industry participants, it is not a strategy to save the adult industry

when those mega sites aren't selling, that represents the fact that the vast majority of potential customers aren't buying anymore, because they are satisfied by what they are finding for free, and once they bust a nut they are happy
.... sure, there will always be some niches that are able to support a few people, but the adult industry as a whole can't survive that way, and the webcam/dating cash cow is only going to carry things so far
