DREAMHOST - I'm calling you out.

You can't fucking deny access to PREPAID domain registration services once a hosting account is no longer active!

I expect my domain registrations to be re-enabled by end of business today so I can transfer them out of your lame ass excuse of a company.

TripleXPrint 10-10-2008 11:58 AM

I had one a long time ago that that happened to with them. Just email a few times and bitch and they will release it. Promise to get hosting with them again soon or whatever amount they want you to pay back in, but you want the domain released first. Transfer it out and forget about them lol. Use the words "holding domain for ransom" that worked for me lol.

I've had DH for almost 3 years for the small sites, but for serious sites I wouldn't even bother. However I did get a good deal way back when with domain regs.

Yeah you got a great deal on those domains that they own.

Hopefully they are reg'd to you and not "through them".

Yeah the registrant is me, not them.
I wonder how ICANN would feel about a registrar denying access to domain administration? That's effectively what they are doing.

Just start slamming their support email or control panel whatever they use now. Took me a few days, but it was a domain that was pretty good and I wanted back, and didn't want to stay on at their hosting.

All the pros use it to get like 15 TB of bandwidth a day for $9.95 a month.

DreamHost is so rad.

I still use a dreamhost plan for a bunch of small sites and am having a headache with them on email that their customer support is too retarded to help me on...poor timing on their part, renewal's coming up soon.

Thats the same thing I did, I put down about a grand way back when and held a credit balance with DH for a long time. I used it as a server for small sites, and some development projects I was working on. I figured since I wasn't under contract, once the credit balance ran out they would suspend it and that would be it. So once I was done with the things I needed to do on hosting, I used the remainder of the balance to reg some names with them.

Now my account is "past due" 5 months and they just got around to suspending it, along with access to the domains I regged.

What hosting company keeps your account active after not paying for it for 5 months?

Dreamhost has shady business practices. They will delete your accounts without any type of communication. They did it to me a few months ago. I ran like the wind, STAY AWAY

The Nerd 10-11-2008 08:50 AM

Interresting thread.:helpme

fris 10-11-2008 01:06 PM

dream host = automatic blacklist when trading

Jarmusch 10-11-2008 01:31 PM

Do they even need to be called out?

CaptainAmerica 10-11-2008 01:33 PM

What makes you think this is their customer support board?

And youre an idiot for using them. Blame yourself.

HorseShit 10-11-2008 01:39 PM

congrats to the winners

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-11-2008 02:23 PM

That my friends is why you use a REAL registrar to register your domains and not your host...

Plus strike 2 for using dreamhost...

D Ghost 10-11-2008 06:47 PM

Dreamhost sucks

papill0n 10-11-2008 08:33 PM

it's settled then, everyone loves dreamhost :1orglaugh

brandonstills 10-11-2008 08:41 PM

just google "dreamhost nightmare". Even without looking at any of the pages and just the results its scary.

Lamis 10-11-2008 08:54 PM

Did they fix it?

Some time ago I was going to join, but then choosed another one.

Also I heard that they sometimes send emails saying that your server is down, but in reality is a "joke".. I really don't get it. They have bad timing.

LMAO you saved a fe dollars and now you have no domains,...yup you sure did get a good deal. People who think the cheapest is good are destine for failure. Going with the cheapest registrar or host or whatever is not necessarily going with the best or even good, it's simply being cheap. You Get What You Pay For In Life.:2 cents:
