2 NSA employees come forward and admit regular Americans spied on.

Pretty interesting. Two former employees at the NSA who's job it was to intercept calls admit that they listened to regular Americans and even passed around the juicier sex related conversations for fun.

expect: " I have nothing to hide, so they can listen as they wish " .:2 cents:

Intrusion into the privacy of Americans, while wasting tax money. Time to put a stop to this dumb shit.

Yeah many neo-cons believe that. It doesn't matter if I have nothing to hide it's not any of the governments damned business. what these neo-cons don't get is maybe one day what they think is "nothing" may be "something" to the government one day. Do they think only republicans will be President forever? I sure as hell know that Sean Hannity would get very pissed if he knew that his phone calls were being monitored by the Obama administration even though he has nothing to hide. Of course he's a hypocrite who would do the world a favor if he asserted his 2nd Amendments rights by inserting a gun into his mouth and pulling the trigger.

link or you're gay.

It there were abuses, prosecute them. If there are bad apples, remove them. If oversight is needed, add it.

But, you don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

There's tons of info online, look around a bit. Here's a nice link you can look at though:
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-...r13fe95-85.pdf

an executive order from Clinton authorizing warrantless physical searches.

Well, it's a funny story not a political scandal. :)

I think you left out a key word:

" FOREIGN " ...

xmas13 10-09-2008 09:53 PM

I told a friend he should ask the NSA recruitment if there are any phone sex interceptor jobs left in Maryland.

yes, they are supposedly looking for "foreign" intelligence. But where do you think they are looking? Why would Clinton have to sign an EO if they weren't looking around in American houses and buildings?

Remember, this is also a foot in the door for them to use that for anything they want. Please don't be naive :)

The NSA is just like any other administration. 10% work (Mexican cleaners), 90% are surfing the web, playing cards or watching porn. :)

Why did Bill Clinton come up? I don't care if Jesus Christ authorized it, it's still violates the most basic civil liberties.

But if you want to get political, the Bush administration made sweeping, unprecedented changes to make this sort of thing more possible and promised us that exactly this type of thing WOULD NOT happen. In fact Bush himself stood in front of the American people on national television and said that only al queda and their affiliates would be intercepted.

Not to mention, these are only 2 people. If these low level grunts were doing it, I can only imagine what was happening higher up.

mynameisjim 10-09-2008 10:14 PM

A sad irony is that US soldiers in Iraq were even spied on while calling home. So while they were risking their lives to fight for freedom and liberty, their very own rights guaranteed by the constitution where being trampled over.

Bill Clinton came up because you said you were shocked. I was trying to point out that this sort of thing and alot more has been going on for ages. It is nothing new and really shouldn't be shocking that it goes on. Don't misunderstand me there, of course it is shocking because it is riding roughshod over freedom. My point, ultimately, is: Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely :(

Um no I expect people that make claims to have actual PROOF before spouting bullshit. I don't ever post something I claim as FACT without have PROOF of it being factual first. why should I have to do YOUR homework for you? Especially since like Santa there's nothing to be found anyways.

yeah, it is sickening how little people care about the fundamental freedoms that are what make free countries

mynameisjim 10-09-2008 11:03 PM

I was being sarcastic about "being shocked". This is exactly what everyone thought would happen and here we have low level grunts doing it. At the highest levels there must be virtually no limits to their eavesdropping.

I would think Clinton issuing such an order is proof enough. An order like that isn't lawful under any circumstances and that should prove to anyone what they are willing to do.

V_RocKs 10-10-2008 12:43 AM

They couldn't find the brad pitt and jolie ones.. they find the circus freaks.. who will listen?

pigman 10-10-2008 12:58 AM

Are you really suprised by this? The patriot act took away most of americans freedom.

Europeans countries are trying to pass laws to filter all cable/internet traffic to scan e-mails and such for terrorist activist. This is already in effect in the US since long ago.

So if you want your e-mail unscaned/read you better start encrypting.
