Look at your old ass in the mirror with your beard that's been discolored by Marlboro's and then feel your lungs wheeze as you breathe in and out...Bend over to tie your shoes and feel your bones creak and pop from the time you bend over until the time you stand back up, sounding like a bag of microwave popcorn.. Then say to yourself, "I'm an old man who is only accelerating my downward spiral into the grave by continuing to smoke these cancer sticks......If I actually quit smoking and SHAVED, Maybe the hot chicks I take pics with would put their head closer to my face when I take pics with them"... Then smoke all you want on the previous day and then quit the next day. You'll be ready to quit cold turkey the next day. I also suggest at least hitting the sauna and the steamroom.....Then maybe you won't have to consider prescription medication in order to stop using a narcotic. |

Analyze history - seizure is major side effect :warning

Don't go NEAR that SHIT. It's a fucking deathtrap. I went on it for a brief period a few years ago and it really sent me whacky.
|
why would you want to go on meds and mess with your brain chemistry, perhaps with long long term effects?
|
Tried it when it first came out. Worked fucking fantastic for smoking. Within a day I did not want a smoke at all. Like ZERO desire to smoke. Which kicked ass. Then I got hit by some of the side effects (most of mine where not documented yet). My heart rate went nuts, my pulse dropped, I felt like I was going to die. Ended up in ER on like day 3 or 4. They had me on a highly monitored status as they were figuring stuff out. Ruling out most other reasons as well as illegal drugs, it came apparent it was that pill. Left my system and I recovered. I also started smoking again after that. I quit on my own almost two years ago though, been tobacco free since.
|
Worked for me, I started smoking when I was 13 and Im 54 now, I quit a 2 pack a day habit last year using Bupropion. Took it for 2 weeks while I smoked, quit smoking and continued to take it for 4 more weeks and then stopped. Other than feeling a bit mellow, I had no bad side effects and no withdraw. I haven't smoked a cig in 9 months.
|
Generally a pill won't make you quit if you personally could care less about it. Just like there is no pill to make you wash the dishes if you don't feel like doing it.
A friend of mine tried those pills. Told me he was feeling like a zombie then rolled into a four a way intersection on a red light, got t-boned and flipped over two times. No injuries thank god but those pills are poison IMHO. |
I tried it for panic attacks and anxiety. Worked great except it hurt to breath.

I had no side effects (although I have MS, and can feel pretty lousy sometimes so I might have and not known it). Having said that..... I LOVED it for quiting smoking. Within a couple days you just don't want to smoke anymore. It's so fucking weird. One day you crave a cig after everything. The next, you get done eating or fucking and you think... nah.... I don't want to bother going outside for a smoke... HUH? It's crazy how well it worked for me.
Something else I did (you start the drug like a week or two before you try to quit) is that I would only smoke half a cig or whatever and throw all my butts in a coffee can. It was disgusting. Anyway, when it was time to quit I didn't buy anymore. I would dig in the can and find the best butts, and smoke them. Made the disgustingness of my habit plain as day. I'd done that in the past without the drug, and had quit before, but it wasn't nearly as easy. I'd be digging for butts for weeks. With the drug within a day or two I was so done. Haven't smoked in a couple years now since the last time I quit. Longest I quit for was 10 years. Trick is to NEVER have a drag EVER again. One drag = one pack = one carton = another year or two with the monkey on your back. |
My girlfriend quit after 20 years of smoking using Chantix. She swears by the stuff. You still have to do the psychological work, but it absolutely eliminates all physical cravings until it's out of your system and you're clean.
|
In a combination Wellbutrin/smoke patches it supposedly works wonders.

Oh yeah, I don't smoke. When I did quit, I just stopped. My friend can't. I was investigating whether I should encourage the tact she had chosen, as I would be quite pleased if she did not smoke. Now, :321GFY |
my mother took it.. bt she still fucking smoked.. I honestly think it's in the head.. like you said wanna quit throw em away..
|
Hit me up if you want to talk about this medication.
|
I have heard (zyban) either it works or it doesn't. there is no inbetween.
|
Doing a little more research.
Those of you that had a negative experience with wellbutrin, did you intake any cannabis products or drink alcohol while you were taking it? |
Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL, Zyban all the same thing, all contain bupropion which is an antidepressant, all have side effects and in rare cases fatal ones. The success rate for this type of drug is about 27%, The patch and gum is about 5% effective and hypnosis less than 5% depending on which trials you look at.
Low Level laser treatment on the other hand is more than 47% ( some claim as high as 85% ) effective, and has no reported side effects whatsoever ! At the end of the day its what someone here said, if your mind is not set on quitting nothing will work. The good thing about laser treatment is there are no drugs involved, its 100% painless, its quick 45 mins and usually requires just one treatment. (see Http://www.matrixlasercenters.com) No matter what treatment you decide on there are some things that you must do to help you succeed. #1 stop drinking alcohol for 3 weeks, #2. stop coffee for 3 weeks, #3. drink 8 pints of ionized water a day, #4. stay away from people who keep asking you "are you ok, have you had a cigarette yet ? " or tell you "just one will not hurt", these people are not your friends ! I had laser treatment 18 years ago in Wimbledon UK, having smoked 50 fags a day for more than 20 years, I had made my mind up it was killing me, my girlfriend said I tasted like an ashtray and people close to me died of lung cancer. It worked and i feel great i just came back from running two marathons in France and im older than Baddog if thats possible :1orglaugh :thumbsup |

I agree and she doesn't drink. Quote:

Quitting cold turkey is the fastest way imo. Tell her to quit and get into the gym doing cardio. Something that will make her need to breath hard.
She will realize how much damage she has already done to herself and will hopefully want to quit. |

She has the desire. |

Here is another vote for Chantix, BUT, as has been said, you, or in this case your friend, really has to want to quit. The Chantix "program" should also be followed to a "T", simply taking the pills when one feels like it does not work.
I have been smoke free nearly two years now and Chantix really kills those cravings those crucial first two months. |
don't be a quitter
