Spam Me with Unmetered Server Deals

I run a legal dating/tube site and need to switch hosts ASAP.
Here's what I need:
1 - dual quad cores (preferably 5310s or better), 8 gigs ram, at least 5TBs bandwidth, 100mb uplink is ok for my web/db server.
1 - dual core or quad, 2 or 4 gigs ram, unmetered bandwidth with bursts of 250 -300MB/sec but averages around 200mb. for my videos.

Im running through a lot of bandwidth these days (over 2tbs a day). I'm currently with "theplanet" for my main webserver (dual quad core 5305s, 4gb ram, only 2tb bandwidth) and have 3 servers with 10tb.com for the videos but 30 tbs is not nearly enough so Im getting hammered with overages.

WebairGerard 10-08-2008 01:52 PM

hit me up now man we will hook you up :)

danayster 10-08-2008 01:59 PM

Hello Gerard, I've looked at the prices on your site and they are Premium level. Probably around 3-4 times what IM paying now. For server 1 I'm paying $349, and the 3 10TB servers Im paying $199 each. I'd be interested in comparable pricing, since my site is mainly "tube" traffic im not so worried about TIER 1 bandwidth.

I'd be happy to go over a package with what you're looking for as well. If you can shoot me an email I'll return with some hardware specs and bw prices. Thanks!

Talk to Bridgette from Phatservers (421864528) or Brad Mitchell from Mojohost (56950199).

danayster 10-08-2008 02:24 PM

Though Brad Im sure is a distinguished gentlemen, I did read his thread about how he's not jumping on the 6-7$ mb bandwidth bandwagon so Mojohost may not be suited for me.

Is it very reccomended to have the front-end of a tube site on a server it self and the content on different server(s)?

I am starting a tubesite where I will be hosting the content my self, for starters I'm only going with 1 server for it all, right now it look's like It's gonna be a quad core xeon 5430 with 4gig ram and 50mb/s bw.

It really depends on the amount of traffic you're getting. You can certain start with a duo core and have WEB, SQL and Videos all running from same server until you build past 10k uniques a day.

My site is chewing up 2TBs a day in bandwidth for the videos so I have no choice.

THanks for the link, I've seen that page before and all looks great except its obviously shared and states to only expect between 30-40mbps from the link.

Any here have experience with FDC?

Thanks for the info. I was always under the impression that CDN was out reach for Tube sites, aren't they very expensive? Any major Tube site on CDN?

Miss Nancy 10-08-2008 04:25 PM

What kind of drives and how many do you need for the 5310 or better server?

danayster 10-08-2008 04:50 PM

The stock 250gb sata will do, thats just for the web server. I don't stream anything from it so it doesn't need to even be fast.

Miss Nancy 10-08-2008 05:06 PM

Gotcha!

I can beat that price w. top tier bandwidth. Please shoot me an email w. your contact info for details :)

Klen 10-08-2008 05:09 PM

Looks like you need a server with 100 mbit prepaid bandwith.

Phil21 10-08-2008 07:44 PM

Hey,

Also jumping in with the "contact me" crowd :) I have a few questions about your setup, that probably you do not want public.

We can probably get close to the current pricing you have while providing managed services, and guaranteeing you bandwidth availability.

If you're interested, I can be reached at [email protected]

Good luck on your search!

Why would a host even want to lay out 4k for new servers, all the labor and support and BW just to collect 350 bucks a month? ??? you would need to host this guy for 2 years JUST to break even at best....:1orglaugh

Your link doesnt work...LMAO classic..hahaha

Why would you want too do that? You lay out approx 2k for the server, add to that data center costs, tech support, routers and a ton of other overhead. Now at best you make 1-2 bucks per meg, so MAYBE (but most likely not) you will break even in 3 years?..........Just doesnt make sense. You cannot run a profitable business of any kind when you sell your product at a loss or a 3 year breakeven point.:2 cents:

CDN prices , especially ours have become much more aggressive and what was once out of reach now may not be. We do not currently have any Tube sites on the system, but I am confident it will create great performance increases for them.

If the man whats to offer me a good deal, so be it. I of course being on the consumers side of fence, wouldn't complain. There's always the possibility that some of the Internet providers are over pricing the larger web hosts. When you think about it, the pressure is on as technology advances so its only logical for pricing to become more and more competitive.

This same business model applies in many other areas. I've seen even large office supply stores like Staples overcharge the larger companies for supplies while regular consumers/walk-ins are paying 30-40% less at the store. I believe the mentality behind this all is "They are big and profitable, they can afford to pay more". I've often found even myself quoting a price dependent on the person requesting it. If the person seems small-time/broke then I would naturally go lower and vice versa.:2 cents:

This may be cocky of me, but I actually may feel great possibly being the first large tube site on a CDN. Its really the next logical step. Of course some strong ANTI-LEECHING measures need to be put into place first. Like Youporn has, you cannot leech their videos without their video players, you will get a Flash Ani stating just that.
