Disappearing Sales in your Stats?

I can't stand it when I see a sale, especially a nice $45 sale I was not expecting, and then a couple days later it has disappeared.

fucking aggravating.

why the hell does this happen?

I don't like errors and glitches like this, not cool and not good.

cherrylula 10-08-2008 10:15 AM

... I just noticed another thread about this, so let me add I am not talking about AFF stats. lol

danayster 10-08-2008 10:18 AM

haha I was actually going to say exactly that. I started the other thread. You should contact your affiliate manager though. When this has happened to me with AFF, they did it on purpose saying "I had too many chargebacks, returns" so they were holding some of my pay until I brought up my numbers.. I said, ohh yea.. ok, then retaliated with a promotional program so large it won me a top 10 spot in the Penthouse competition this past quarter. :) Now they like me again.

By the way, is there a thread about that already? Those who are waiting for the results of the contest? I haven't seen it.

BradM 10-08-2008 10:19 AM

It's called shaving, and they know what they are doing. Notifying them means you know and are watching so they have to come up with an excuse.

rowan 10-08-2008 10:22 AM

Could be a stats system that quietly removes the sale in some circumstances (eg a bounced check) rather than showing it as two transactions.

cherrylula 10-08-2008 10:26 AM

yeah I emailed them, what a drag to deal with though.

klinton 10-08-2008 10:27 AM

which sponsor or you are discreet :) ?

cherrylula 10-08-2008 10:29 AM

yeah I don't want to throw their name around in here... hopefully this will be explained at least.

I don't send them much traffic anymore though, and probably will even less if my sale doesn't come back. :1orglaugh

Indecent 10-08-2008 10:30 AM

I believe NATS will auto-remove transactions that didn't fully process (checks I guess) or if they chargeback.

that's pretty dumb.

Why not wait til they clear for them to show up, but I realize it happens.

Exactly. Don't even show the sale until the money has come in.

It could be a chargeback, or shaving. I had the same thing a few week's back when a sale mysteriously disappeared, and what would you know, the next week I had a whole bunch of new sales without doing anything different.

Just ditch programs you don't trust and move on, there's plenty of good sponsors out there who treat you properly.

CaptainHowdy 10-08-2008 02:14 PM

Maybe sales are devaluating?

xsabn 10-08-2008 02:17 PM

i have the exact problem with an webcam sponsor of mine

ChargebackJoe 10-08-2008 02:18 PM

i've noticed that too lately with more than one sponsor

shark laser 10-08-2008 04:14 PM

i remember a long time ago seeing a thread where a sponsor would adjust its 'shaving' depending on rebills/retention on affiliates sales on PPS...

marko13 10-12-2008 03:25 AM

maybe that is new wm tool to send more and more traffic.... they make like you have sales... and you put other links to that sponsor and after that bam and you are shaved like ... you know like ehat....

In last 2 months I've had 2 big revshare sales with fake checks and its very very annoying to wake up and see a huge -$99,97 on your nifty stats balance... :(

Forbid checks, use only CC or I dunno ... :(

cherrylula 10-12-2008 06:41 AM

ugh... alright since I see my thread bumped and I did end up getting a response, I suppose I should post it here...

I really don't know what to say about the reason I got, maybe someone who knows more can assure me that everything is okay. :1orglaugh

and I still don't feel like mentioning the company.

but when inquiring about the missing money, I was told it was a bonus "added by our programmers by mistake due to launching a wrong filter script."

I know nothing about backend stats of programs and how they run, but that sounds like something that could happen?

A bonus added by mistake by a wrong filter script mistakingly launched. That was the reason my $45 disappeared, and my sales "didn't qualify."

so whatever, blame the programmer, I guess it happens... right?

the infamous "glitch response"

Pete-KT 10-12-2008 07:16 AM

Did you contact the company adn ask, I know in Our system when there is a chargeback or a NSF it shows it as that it doesnt just remove the sale, so that seems a little odd.

AFF is shaving?? :helpme

RobertD 10-12-2008 07:18 AM

Several years ago I had one program in particular with signups disapearing from my stats. The owner of the program himself told me they were "ghost signups" and nothing for me to be worried about. I said "Ahh, ok thanks", hung up the phone, and immediately started pulling links. I never sent him a single click again, and I'll pull anything down that I find he's involved with. Shady fucker, his loss.

Well, they are running two promos right now, so it was due to this confusion I was told. :1orglaugh

you really think that sounds like bullshit? anyone else?

I sooo can't stand this shit. Why would it be just a shave glitch? If they are going to shave, I don't see how they would just erase sales like that. :Oh crap

bump .....

Rui 10-13-2008 09:29 AM

If you think thats bad think about having referrals that brought you quite a nice chunk of money on a regular basis... "disappear"

Could write a book about that..

ZeroHero 10-13-2008 09:32 AM

i love to see some answers

funny you mention that, because this same program cut their referrals a few years ago, and we were making over 1k a month in referrals.... they changed it and said "get them to sign up under the new code" as their response to "what about my referral money??"

I should have pulled all links at that point, but did end up having more positive ($) experience with them after that, so I chump it up to even.

Now I know better... they SHOULD have kept paying me the money. Even if they dropped their %, they STILL should have kept paying me. To tell me that I should get this person who I had no idea who they are to sign up again under me was bullshit... they took my referral $$. I should have threatened with litigation.

never again, I am so tired of getting fucked by companies...

if they weren't a huge advertiser here I'd out them. But I have respect for GFY and their business so I will not. (and I don't want to get banned lol). I do like some of their employees, don't blame them, so I will pass on this one. grrrr

Why 10-13-2008 09:35 AM

this can be caused by credits and/or chargebacks.

Sounds way way too familiar, lets hope we are talking about the same companies and this is not "the norm" :helpme
