Wordpress Installed w/ Fantastico Question
Are wordpress installs, installed via Fantastico, hindered in anyway?
For instance, my current host has some sort of easy install for wordpress. I gave it a try on one blog. The blogs directory doesn't even show up in my ftp, let alone give me to the ability to throw in plugins and themes or whatever. So is it different and fully customizable with Fantastico? Or does it just install the basic functionality of Wordpress, Joomla or whatever? |
I've installed a few blogs using Fantastico and never had any problems customizing them, as that's all done through the Wordpress admin area.

I've never had any problems. Well, one time I was running another script that messed up the mod-rewrite. Therefore, wordpress wouldn't work. It got fixed, though.

So you are able to add stuff to the wp directory? Some hosts have it setup so you get a wordpress install much like that of an MU install, where users can not add themes/plugins.

You should be able to. Yes.

Well, I wasn't really talking about the wp-admin. But, just as long as you can add themes and plugins, it should be good to save some time with.
Thanks for clearing that up for me. |
The only problem I found installing using Fantastico is charset incompatibility for some languages, but if you're going to write that blog for English - it will work just fine...

No problem like that with Fantastico...
