Funny until '89 then the jokes got lame. He had his moment in the sun though with all the commercials movies and tv stuff he did in the mid 80's.

Fuckin JOE PISCOPO.

He got a bad rap if you ask me- It was pretty much because later on in his career he got obsessed with bodybuilding and doing endless Bruce Springsteen impersonations- but hey at the same time he was dating this super-hot blonde fitness babe.

ANYWAY- I've always been a huge SNL fan- I've watched the show since the early days on thru every reincarnation of the cast, and I'll tell ya, the JOE PISCOPO years were FUNNY.

I watch the reruns on comedy central all the time and tell people that what they DONT rerun is one of the best periods of SNL in my opinion (although the critics at the time RAGGED ON IT)

and that was the Eddie Murphy/Joe Piscopo days- they were friggin hilarious. Most people I talk do don't even remember that cast- Tim Kazurinsky, Julia Louis Dreyfuss (they only know her as Elaine on Seinfeld) Mary Gross, Brad Hall - they had some classic moments.

The real gem was Piscopo if you ask me- he did some great work during that time- I can still crack myself up just by uttering

JOE PISCOPO LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE- SAAAAATURDAY NIGHT SPORTS! The BIIG STORY...

That was his character on the news-

damn he was good

I never even thought about that but it's so true. I wonder why they don't show the reruns from that period?
