Question about hosting and dns

Can you host domain.com at host A, and host galleries.domain.com at host B?

Yep. Extremely trivial to setup and configure, any host doing your DNS should be able to do this with no issue whatsoever.

Yes, it's actually a very common practice for many large sites. People host their main sites and important stuff on host A (a Higher quality host) and then use host B ( a lesser quality host) for less important stuff like media files...:2 cents:

Yes you can, as long as host A points the galleries.domain.com to the proper IP address it will work flawlessly.

Thanks for the answers guys. I knew you could do it on different servers with the same host, but never asked about two different hosts before.

I'm good to go now.

DNS (as far as A records are concerned, nerds, don't confuse everyone here, please) is basically just a simple 'name to phone number' mapping, like speed dial. It doesn't care what number's in it, and it doesn't care if you're wrong.

Oddly, both seem to have an issue with drunk dialing. :thumbsup
