Okay you health freaks.
What's the best all round juicer? Something I can use for a bunch of broccoli as well as a handful of fruit.
I remember some infomercial about one that you just toss in the entire plant and drink the results. Probably leaning towards that kind of quality. What do you suggest? |
Jack LaLanne

Unless you want to drop 1k plus I would go with the Breville JE900 Juice Fountain. |
I have a Hamilton Beach Juicer. Use it a lot it's fantastic and easy to clean.

Your input? and do you do bananas and oranges with the skin on or off? |

I mix everything in there, broccoli, carrot, celery, apples, pineapples... You name it if it doesn't have a big seed in the middle like a mango then it can go in the juicer. The thing with a juicer if you put soft fruits (berries) in it then you won't get much juice. You're better off with good blender for those. |

Examples of 1000.00 plus juicers can be found in professional models. Example Here is a link to the Breville. http://www.amazon.com/Breville-JE900.../dp/B00008ZCKV |

Have you ever tried the Acme 6001? |

I paid a bit more then $70.00 for mine and for the usage I do, if I was to break a piece tomorrow I'd just buy another one. Way cheaper then paying $1000.00 imho since I don't run a health spa or gym :2 cents: |

I have used the Jack LaLanne unit for 4 years without any serious issues. I takes anything i throw at it. Even potatoes turnips parsnips with hardly any noticable drop in speed. The only other unit that works better is a Champion Juicer but its expensive and is not easy to clean
I chuck the Jack LaLanne unit in the dishwasher and walk away :thumbsup Now if money is no object I have a commercial unit that cost around $5000.00 i could recommend ? :winkwink: |
a grand for a juicer sounds like a lot of money to me for something a blender can most likely do... but I'm a neophyte :P

As for juice in pulp, I've done orange juice only a few times in it and to me seems that what was left in the bucket was pretty dry and I got lots of juice out of it. I mostly use mine for Veggie juices with apples and pears and harder type fruits the orange as I still believe best tasting OJ is pressed. |
how does broccoli juice taste like?

I've been looking for a juicer that was affordable, but most everything I've come across has reviews that says it is hard to clean. Glad to hear people say that they've found easy clean ones.
I have one that I got at Walmart, used it once, and after the pita cleaning, have never used it again. |
Why juice? Just eat the vegetables and fruits as they are.
|
Vitamix. Expensive but worth it.

You must get some crazy taste combos though. Not so much with the fruits but I'm not sure how well vegetables mix. |

It's much easier and faster to clean than a blender IMO. |

IF the goal is maximum nutrition a blender makes more sense than a juicer because most of the nutrition is (usually) discarded after extracting the liquid. a simple walmart blender for 50 bucks will grind up some strawberries, and a banana, or whatever and just add a little milk or orange juice and drink it down. a favorite of mine is a cup of blueberries, a banana, 2 scoops of chocolate whey protein, some ice and a little milk, makes a really nice low cal "shake" that tastes good and fills you up like a meal, really good after the daily bike ride, as a plus the blender on high speed mixes air into it so it makes it thick like a shake, don't drink it all?---then stick it in the freezer and you have low cal "ice cream" to eat while watching tv at night. but, if you must have a juicer the jack lalane deal is ok, nice machine at good price, i've seen them at costco, about a 100 bucks i think. LOTS of them for sale on ebay from folks who drank a lot of sweet juice but couldn't figure out why they still had the big belly. |
I admit I use mine primarily for canning and preserves so for me they are priceless.

Go to bed bath and beyond

I'd hate to hang out with baddog after a brocolli bean and cabbage juice feast.
