The keyboard settings are weird, still haven't figured out how to move backwards ... strafe are S and D ... walk is RIGHT MOUSE.

is there an idiots guide somewhere cause i dont even know how to open a .cfg file...or edit it

For the original quakes, I remember opening a .cfg file in notepad, editing it, and saving it again as another .cfg

Then in the console, typing "exec configname.cfg".

Don't have this demo downloaded yet, so im not sure if you can load external cfg's yet. But notepad should open a .cfg with no problems.

thanks guys..ya i tried notepad and it works...and exec runact.cfg is making a lot of noise right now...so hopefully ill be blasting away in no time

ah man mine sucks...i run the exec and it causes the console to not respond, plus im getting no sound from the initial scene

whats your system specs? i'm told you need a shitload of ram to go along with cpu and video card.

Can someone put the rar file on a server? The download is slowing down.

try adding "-console" into the shortcut target.

The console is configured by default, you don't need to activate it seperately.

well i got 512mb pc 800 rdram...in a p4 1.6 ghz, 32mb video card geoforce 2 i think. hmm
it's weird when i run it, it gets just started and then pauses...and i have to end that session...
not sure hot to add -consoles

Got a 1.7 pentium 4, 768 mb's ram, geforce 2 cheapie (128mb) and the game is runs at 6-9 fps.

I need a better video card. Anyone know some specific console commands which might kill some of the graphics, but will get me more fps? I'm gonna toy with it now...

not sure if it will work but it does for another game.

Create an Icon for the game. right click the Icon and find the Target field. add "-console" to the end of the location. make sure there's a space between whats in the field and "-console"

May or may not help.

unfortunately you can't adjust any settings in this "demo". I have a PIII 933 (dual) with an old 64MB Geforce 2 Ultra, and I get probably 10 fps in average. Especially once enemies are up close attacking, it drops to like 0.3 fps :1orglaugh

Brad, you don't need to add "-console" to the executive. Does the console come up at all when you hit "~" ?

when you open the console, type in

com_drawfps 1


that'll show the current FPS in the upper right corner :thumbsup

You should install the newest vid drivers. What card do you have ?

Im still tweaking, but when I set r_shadows to "0", I jumped from 6-8 fps up to 9-15.

Same problem with shooting monsters though, .001 fps or so.

This might help to lower to polygon count, perhaps. Haven't looked through all the settings yet, though.

I see that it's gonna have support for the Nvidia NV30 :Graucho

that was the problem. i have geforce sdr. 0-16 fps and it won't run in full screen mode. hopefully nv30 is out before this game ships.

hard to tell if the game is any good, i chop just running heh. but doesn't look to be anywhere near doom speed which sux. have to try it at a friends place.

that helped a bit, got the game in full screen, but fps only went up a bit.

overal it looks like it won't be that great for multi, which means i might not even buy the game. reload on weapons would turn it into a cs type speed, which just blows.

seems slower than q3 and q3 was slow. i'd love to see them remake quake 1 on this engine.

running the game off a 15000RPM scsi w/ 1GB ddr2700 ram and the ti 4400 video card w/128 ram.

gig of ram will help. when u fight the imp's on the 3rd map your fps will get hammered. i get 0-4. :)

Is the game supposed to play in windowed mode?

grab those commands from the .txt url posted above, put that in the default.cfg and it'll default to fullscreen
