I don't think a teenage pregnancy means that the parents necessarily failed. Parents can do everything in their control to try and keep their kids from having sex at a young age, from offering important information and education to keeping them under lock and key... but many kids are still going to make the wrong choices.

Its funny. When Jamie Lynn Spears got knocked up everyone said how shitty her mother was, etc but when its someone like this suddenly its totally acceptable and no indication that she cares more about her career than her family. To me, just the fact that she had taken on such responsibility while having a six month old with downs syndrome says that.

Sadly that's where so many go wrong. They spend all their time trying to stop their kids having sex usually at the expense of a good sex education, when sex education is the thing most likely to stop them getting pregnant.

Of course you don't want your kids to start screwing other kids and they need teaching why that's a bad idea, BUT you have to consider that they may and make sure they're taught accordingly and know about safety. Of course that's still not gonna stop every teen pregnancy but it'd help in oh so many cases.

Even the ghetto and slum kids who think it's gonna be 'cool' to look after a baby young can be blamed on education or rather lack of. :2 cents:

True, they are free to make their own choices. Just like Americans should able to make their own choice regarding abortion, which Palin would love to take away an individual's ability to have a choice in that matter.
