deep down cubs fans want it this way - it ties them to those that came before them -their parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents.

lots of RedSox fans were happier before the Sox finally won a World Series - once you've won it's never the same.

haha, I know tons of Cubs fans and have never heard that logic or thought process before.
