Dumb question, burning to DVD

I have some video clips and stuff that I want to burn to DVD and have it play on my TV via my DVD player. Do I need Nero or is there another way to do it?

What type of format are the files?

My converter program outputs MPG files and all of the ISO stuff.

Okay, I have something called Roxio that looks like it will work. But for some reason my computer is saying I do not have a DVD in the drive. Do I need to do something special to the DVD before it can be written to?

Sly,

trust me.. your computer comes with some sort of software..

If you have a Toshiba than yes it's Roxio.

ALOT of times the DVD burner doesn't work on computers for like 3 days (happened to my last two).

But I would highly suggest you simply burn a DATA DISC with the files then put them into any dvd player that has the (DivX) on it.

Again.. You can use a normal cd, or a dvd cd for DATA DISC pending on size.

I just eject the disk and then put it back in and the computers started reading it. I'm burning right now, hopefully this works on my DVD player.

If the dvd player is relatively new, this should not be a problem.

My entire life I have burned maybe 3 dvd's the "right" way.. Just go with Data Disc.

Let me know.

horrid advice you are presuming his files are divx when they likely arent.

his question is akin to asking how do I drive a car we dont know nearly enough to properly answer

like

what format are the files in, what size and quality are they, do you have a single or dual layer dvd burner, do you have the right media in the drive you are trying to burn to nero or roxio either one should do it so can about a million others, some are free almost all will have to recode the video most likely to DVD compliant MPG2

Stellar 10-04-2008 04:14 PM

Did you not read his post?

Sly,

how goes your burning? Was my advice horrid?

Sly 10-05-2008 10:27 AM

mike I answered most of those questions.

I got it working just fine, did not need to use the data disc method. Thanks though.

just reach behind the computer and press the magic burn to dvd button, it doesnt work if you have someone else push it for you though.
