Question about carbon dating and riding about on Dinosaurs
So you all are sure about this carbon dating thingy
because some nerds (who propbably buy your porn) tell you? Mans perception is just too small to fully understand what God had in mind. You really belive you crawled out of the water and grew legs? and then some grew wings and started to fly? All who might slam me about this...think back in your post history... how many times have you said "I will pray for you tonight" or "you are in my prayers" who you praying to? |
...........hi

Sorry, we're all godless sinners here man.

Fine I will go a round.
Are you kidding me? And your real support for the issue is the use of the word pray or possibly even saying oh god or maybe even god damn it? Why am I sure about carbon dating or even more simple geology that proves we were not here at the same time or even remotely near the time of the dinosaurs? Because I understand how the shit works. Not to mention I am very into geology and rocks. Sediment and rock layers combined with many other factors just prove without a logical doubt of these truths. Your over simplified versions of evolution are also quirky and highly off. Yes at some point long long after basic microbes and such ruled the oceans, long after other fish life did as well. Eventually some started in on moving to land. The would eventually lead to be some of the first reptile type creatures. Pass a lot more time and some of these crawled back into the sea. Some had branched out to no longer be cold blooded, and so forth. Your should be aware of the story. Large reptiles pretty much ruled the roost. Some started the very basics of flight but it was not as birds do today. Insert big disaster such as a comet as most believe that hit near present day Mexico. Big reptiles die off in this period and is where they stop in the geological record. Small mammals that had the ability to burrow and such happened to be of the 5% or so of life that made it past the disaster. They would evolve too. Add assorted climate changes, high co2 and/or high oxygen and you get large animals again this time mammals. Insert more climate change and less food supplies and you see the beginning of the fall of large animals. You would have been seeing primates and eventually early humans. Different branches and ancestors and you get our ancestors and close relatives as far back as 160,000 years ago or so going by fossil record. Now if I was to believe in god as a creator etc. Perhaps I would be open to think that maybe the whole thing was gods plan, even the way evolution worked, and how the universe was formed. I just know I would never base my beliefs on the natural world based on a book written by people, a book that got many others killed for even thinking the Earth revolved around the Sun. Which by the way would also still be a belief of those that take the bible literally, the same that think the Earth is only 6,000 years old. |

The MAIN Issue here is that scientists and ... here I say... even philosophers... in one way or another try to explain our "insignificant existence" .... it is because of people who think and act logically that we are no longer hunting "witches" (which was a clear plot to eliminate capable people or those who opposed the mains stream religion at the time) ... or dying of diseases that are treatable .....
I grew up in a 100% catholic house and my dad is a 110% religious person (not catholic, protestant..).... and after being bombarded all my life with religious beliefs I made my own conclusions based on all their information I received and after analyzing how they act... Having said that, I do believe that there are still things that are far too great to even try to explain with our current knowledge....... but just because some things are difficult to explain I will NOT accept answers such as ... "You just have to believe in G-d" .... neither will I understand the the thoughts of people who let their relatives die because their religion won't allow them to perform simple blood transfusions ... IMHO ... it is just plain bullshit (no offense to anyone here) Why is it that so many people hate science and prefer religion? ... simply put... Science attempts to explain what most people refer to as *G-d* ... and If the ignorance of nature gave birth to gods, the knowledge of nature is calculated to destroy them .. this is something almost every person on this planet can not bear the thought of... because they need something to believe in .... Yes, there are and will be things that are too hard to explain and people shouldn't loose their faith and beliefs in a supreme being because ultimately it is such array concepts/principles that hold entire societies/countries together (USA being one of them)... not to mention people's mental sanity depends on it..... that much I can acknowledge .... However, I will ALWAYS have a hard time when people try to explain the creation of the universe in "magic terms", I will always have a problem with people who expect me to believe "culture/tradition/superstition" over math and science... because after all science offers better and more rational explanations to things ..compared to religions ..... C14 Carbon dating is not perfect (I know that a shoe covered with lava can turn out to be millions of years old.. which is obviously a flaw with C14) but so far people who try to disprove carbon dating as a valid method HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO SHOW FOR it ........ Only until when a religious person offers me intelligent explanations that don't rely on "believe me" or "magic tricks - sort to speak" will I consider believing something... and even then.. it is in my nature to question everything ....... If that makes me a sinner then G-d forgive me.... OK GFY... Blast me! |

If man and dinosaurs were around at the same time. Then man would of lost out because back then we wouldn't of been even close to the top of the food chain. We would of been easy to catch and hurt food.

I am God.
So are you. We are one. We are everything. and we are nothing. |
When someone asks me who they are or what God is, I smile inside and whisper to the Light: "There you go again pretending."

All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particles of an atom to vibration and hold this most minute solar system of the atom together...We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.

I watched some christian propaganda (for kids!) the other day. The talk was about dinosaurs.
HIS theory was that dinosaurs did exist at the same time as humans and pointed out cultures in history that had recorded them. IE: Dragons. |
