The sad thing about Americans

Quote:

Here's the thing about Americans. You can send their kids off by the thousands to get their balls blown off in foreign lands for no reason at all, saddle them with billions in debt year after congressional year while they spend their winters cheerfully watching game shows and football, pull the rug out from under their mortgages, and leave them living off their credit cards and their Wal-Mart salaries while you move their jobs to China and Bangalore.

And none of it matters,
The scariest thing about Sarah Palin isn't how unqualified she is - it's what her candidacy says about America

Not like anyone on GFY has the capacity to read an article that big but whatever. :thumbsup

VikingMan 09-30-2008 06:51 PM

nice bit of writing there and some good insight into the sideshow that America has become to the outside world

Living off their credit cards that are filled with fraudulent charges from internet porn sites.

You can say what you what about America, the truth is America was born from Europe, infact, the reason America became the super power of the world is that people with vision and ambition came here to better there lives and thus made the country what it is today.

Nothing will happen to this country ever, as recently seen, printing more money is just a meeting in washington :2 cents:

SilentKnight 10-04-2008 10:30 PM

Excellent editorial - Matt Taibbi put into words much of what I thought while watchin' the debate the other night.

**IF** the unthinkable happens and McCain/Palin are somehow elected - Canada will surely need to hire a lot more immigration officers to process the massive influx of new American arrivals. :1orglaugh

P.S. - when asked on the citizenship exam....its pronounced 'poo-teen' (french fries with gravy and cheese curds).

And what is the other option? At least the VP is just for looks so it works out in this case LOL, I still don't want her to win though

Now in Germany [at least] people are becoming accustomed to using credit cards and letting them go to the limit. With the new bankruptcy laws it is no big deal to just take a break for a while, then start over again.

Of course, they still won't use them for online purchases.

You do realize that she and I suppose McCain by proxy think that the VP (we all know she has no clue to the VP's real responsibilities) has way more power than it is supposed to as dictated by the constitution. She thinks its not really part of the Administrative branch and that she can go bug the legislative branch. Hell she even said so during the debates and it is the same shit that Cheney did. Also the same shit she is trying to pull with her husband and that trooper case claiming he has rights he does not have.

TheJimmy 10-04-2008 11:47 PM

We'll be just fine...don't you worry your little self about that. ;-)

What "shit" are you referring to?

It's not YOU anyone really worries about. People worry about the shit the US created bleeding into the rest of our economies.

Little tired right now but it can be looked up. Since she is running for office and the Alaska law states something along the lines that nobody running for office can go under investigation or is it made to appear on a grand jury (tired like I said, can not remember which). Law is pretty clear that it applies to the person running for office and now her "camp" is saying her husband is also covered by the same law. Which hearings on that defense will now not be heard until after the election. All to do with her husband appearing to testify about trooper gate.

No, YOU think I am comparing the US to Rome. There have been quite a few other empires that have risen and fallen since Rome.

My cousins live right over there near Munich, recent USA transplants.

They go on about how family oriented it is there, how no grocery stores or any stores are open after work during the week, and closed on the weekends. They bragged about how great it is, and your job understands things and will let you off to go grocery shopping. :1orglaugh

then they had to borrow a car, and drive over an hour on a sunday to some airport to get supplies, when the wife was pregnant.

uhuh, yeah its awesome there. If you just want to drink beer all the time and join a rowing team or bake cookies.
nowhere is perfect. They went there for good jobs and free healthcare, but I don't know how native Californian's are going to stand getting fat and living in the village like that forever. Riding bikes through the snow and shit, yikes. :1orglaugh

Wonder what country he is from. Germany [for example] is a lot more restrictive than the USA. Compared to Germany we operate under total anarchy.

people are selling oil in Euros and switching their currency reserves to euros
