In 33 Days

Old, white, Jewish swing voters in Florida will vote a black man into the seat of president of the united states and return the country to the democrats to clean up the mess.

That is all.

Amen to that...

RP Fade 09-30-2008 06:06 PM

Dunno about that. Have quite a few Jewish friends and Obama's policy or alleged policy towards Israel (I dont know where he exactly stands on them) scares them. Didn't really get into details but that's just what I've heard..

Obama would have to fuck up something awful to lose at this point.

The farther McCain falls behind, the more desperate his stunts look, and the more they hurt him.

I'll tell ya right now what the Reps are going to keep on doing... they are going to keep pulling outrageous shit out of their asses to change the subject once it gets bad for them, expect more lipstick on a pig and phony outrage towards the DEMS "sexist ways" .... the more they distract people from the topics that matter and the more attention they get the better their chances staying alive and keeping a tight race....... Palin's pick proves this theory and basically every move they have made follows this pattern ..... Reps are all about Stunts at this point....

I'm waiting for the $10M ad buy that has Reverend Wright as the main focus. You know they're going to bring that up again.

Obama's done a great job of not taking the bait so far. He doesn't ignore things like Kerry did with the swift boat stuff, his campaign surrogates go out and correct the record, but he doesn't stoop to that level and it's working for him so far.

But McCain hasn't fallen far behind. I do think Palin is a liability that could bring down the ticket, yet I don't know if Thursday's debate is going to be disastrous like so many think. I didn't think Obama was going to wipe the floor with McCain either while everybody was making that prediction. Neither are fantastic debators.

Anyway, here's an interesting chart comparing previous year polling with this year:

2000 2004 2008
All Gore +0 Bush +3 Obama +9

Men Bush +11 Bush +11 Even
Women Gore +11 Kerry +3 Obama +16

Whites Bush +12 Bush +17 McCain +5
Blacks Gore +81 Kerry +77 Obama +93

White men Bush +24 Bush +25 McCain +14
White women Bush +1 Bush +11 Obama +2

Democrats Gore +75 Kerry +78 Obama +78
Independents Bush +2 Kerry +1 Obama +14
Republicans Bush +83 Bush +87 McCain +75

White Catholics Bush +6 Bush +13 McCain +1
WEPs Bush +57 McCain +50

18-29 Gore +1 Kerry +9 Obama +29
30-44 Bush +1 Bush +7 McCain +6
45-59 Bush +1 Bush +3 Even
60+ Gore +4 Bush +8 McCain +6

65+ Gore +3 Bush +5 Obama +1

Suburbanites Bush +4 Bush +5 McCain +8

Isn't that called "Halfrican"?

I don't see how Jewish people can be against him. The very first thing he did after securing the nomination was go speak at a Jewish event.

I don't know anyone who was making the prediction that Obama would wipe the floor with McCain, and I read and watch ALOT of news.
Sounds like one of those straw man arguments that George Bush used to like......"Some politicians think we should let the UN decide whether or not we can defend ourselves, but not me!"

Anyways....the McCain campaign has managed to set the bar so low for Palin in the debate that I think the only way she could "lose" is to accidentally set her podium on fire.
If Biden answers a question by saying "I disagree with Governor Palin and I think we should do this instead".....the McCain camp will try to make him out to be a sexist pig monster.

As for your first assertion, that McCain hasn't fallen too far behind....he was ahead by 2 or 3 points after the convention, he's behind by 5 or 6 points now. That's a 7-9 point swing....that's HUGE.
Not to mention polls lag a little bit and the latest ones don't include the hit he's going to take for the "suspend his campaign, but not really suspend it, and take credit for passing the bailout bill, but then the bill didn't pass"

Also, the state-by-state polls are really bad news for McCain. Obama has turned alot of red states into toss ups and put alot of toss ups into the blue column.

So I stand by my initial statement. Obama would have to fuck up something awful to lose at this point......because anything McCain does to try to bring him down will be played in the media as a desperation move by McCain.

BTW, realclearpolitics.com and pollster.com have all of the polls along with averages of the polls. Best way to look at polling data IMO.
