The Roman Empire is an excellent analogy which we seem to be following as if reading a script. The American Empire rules in a different way is all.

I honestly think if you really research it all they fell because of both acute lead poisoning and silt buildup in their main water ways due to to much development upstream on the rivers. Financial's just came a bit after the fact.

Despite the above mentioned civilizations, I will have to disagree; no offense. I believe that although the US will financially fail first, but being that hypothetical first block will only ignite the domino effect taking down other rising/3rd world countries in the long run.

You have to understand, without US involvement (generally speaking) the world is at a loss.

Those who disagree, before flaming the shit out of me, take this into consideration. Do you hate America/Americanos? Are you incredibly patriotic? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you my friend have a biased opinion.

Fail is too general a term.
Some would consider that just getting to the point where a bailout is even considered, they've failed.
Others, like many in this thread, think that the US needs to cease to exist on a map to have failed.

No, the US won't be wiped off the map but at the same time, it's roads are no longer paved in gold.
