If your mainstream site made $50k a year, how much should you sell it for?
If you had a mainstream site and it made $50k in the past 12 months, and your expenses were very small, under $1k for the year, how much would you ask for?
ballpark. |
Nothing, id keep it!
If i had to sell it id partner up with somebody, but since its mainstream you should set up a loooooong ass contract and fuck your partner over in every way possible. Thats mainstream. |
General rule is that a business is only worth what it has made on a yearly basis. You average 50K then the for sale price should only be 50K but ask more and take what you can get.
I would never sell a business that brought in 50 per year with little cost to run it, but that's me. |
I'd try to sell at 3 years revenue + whatever brandability my website has. So in the ball park of 150-250k
But if you try dumping it to non-professionals most likey 50-100k |

It depends on many factors... but really, you will probably get half of what it's really worth, so your best bet is just to keep it and enjoy easy extra 50k/year profit....
|
I'd keep it.

Like everyone says, it depends. For off line businesses it's 3-5 years earnings depending on a few factors. For on-line, I've seen it as little as 3 months earnings depending on how the site makes money. For example, is it heavily dependent on SE traffic, one sponsor, etc. These would all make it worth less.

kind of depends on what it is to be honest. if its some referral based site, you will probably only get $40 to $50k, but if it is a service (i.e. you do work for someone) then you can get 2x that or more.
hit me up, my fried is looking to buy something and would probably be interested in yours contact info in sig |
Depends on a ton of stuff. Growth potential, where your traffic comes from, types of traffic, industry, etc.
|
I don't understand why anyone would sell it for one year of earnings or why some people thin that's a fair value.
That means whoever buys it will make a 100% profit on their capital every year... stocks are considered cheap when they are selling for 10 times earnings... in the end it will depend on how sustainable it is, how much grow potential it has and on the work involved |
