McCain's Campaign Suspension to make the Bill Pass Blows up in his FACE!

He introduced himself in the process and a few hours ago he said "I made things happen" ... referring to the Bail out bill and ... surprise surprise... the bill didn't pass because of the Republican caucus. .... where does that leave McCains statements of being the one who puts his campaign on hold to get things done......

Discuss....

Maybe the 94 dems that voted Nay had something to do with it?

qxm 09-29-2008 12:40 PM

Dems delivered more than half of the votes in their caucus .... reps fucked it up by delivering a shitload of Nay ....... check ur news sources....

Nah, he's just deflecting it all onto the dems rather than admit his half's responsibility to vote on the compromised bill as promised.

Shhh let them think how they like. :winkwink:

Because the dems totally had the ability to make it pass regardless of the republicans.

http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/29/news...ex.htm?cnn=yes

The measure needs 218 votes for passage. Democrats voted 141 to 94 in favor of the plan, while Republicans voted 65 to 133 against. That left the measure with 206 votes for and 227 against.

So if Dems would of voted another 30 for they could of easily passed it.

V_RocKs 09-30-2008 05:12 PM

I think most house republicans are wondering why McCain is running for President.

Imagine if they would have voted massively to pass this .... They would be the scapegoat of any problem showing up after ... They were smart enough not to do that ... :2 cents:

qxm 09-30-2008 05:18 PM

The fact is that DEMS delivered 2/3 of their votes and the REPS were only required to give half of theirs which is what bipartisanship means but that's not the issue... the issue is that McCain comes in trying to save the day and saying that because of the fact that he shows real leadership and suspends his campaign and shows up in Washington ... he made the Bill pass... which is what he was bragging about a few hours before the Bill was rejected in huge part by members of his own party! ..... now where is the great leadership he claims to have when he can't make the REP party deliver?

BTW.. that cnn link is 404 ... nice reference...

You don't think, if it does pass, that it should be a bipartisan effort?

Hmm do you think it was coincidence that the screen behind McCain kept switching to a green screen during his speech, or was this planned before hand by someone that worked for the video company that set that stuff up? Anyone else remember those screens kept goofing up and going green? :1orglaugh

It was grass, but the camera was zoomed in so it looked like green screen.

When became the bailout the democrats responsibility?
Its a republican bill, with Bush and McCain behind it.

12 House Republicans (according to House leaders Boehner, Blunt and Cantor) decided to vote against the bill at the last minute because Speaker Nancy Pelosi said some mean things about Republicans prior to the vote.

She hurt their feelings boohoohoo, those morons vote against their own bill because they got their delicate egos bruised, guess it isn't always America first :1orglaugh

I also think they read some of the news and saw that many people in the country don't want the bailout. Right now Bush is on the way out and with each passing day it is looking more and more like McCain won't win the election so many Republicans are starting to separate from the party and are presenting themselves as the "real conservatives." So I wonder if some of the chose not to vote for it just as a way of making themselves look good.
