What PS3 games are must haves?
 

My husband finally won the debate in this house over why we needed a PS3 when we already had every other game console. The PS3 is due to arrive today and if we have to have it then I am going to use it ..lol.

So..what PS3 games are serious must have games. They don't have to be new releases.

Well don't have the PS3 yet since there aren't enough good games out, but I'd go for Metal Gear Solid 4... I'm a total fan of the franchise! :thumbsup

Does he already have an Xbox 360 ??? Just so I know if you're looking for PS3 exclusives. From how you word it, it sounds like he must already have a 360 though, ha ha. If he doesn't, let us know because then there'll really be a big pile of games to recommend :)

Anyways, for exclusive PS3 titles, Pornisteph is right, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great game. Also, one other game that I think is amazing is Uncharted:Drakes Fortune, it's like a mix of Tomb Raider and Gears Of War and it's VERY well done. http://www.us.playstation.com/uncharted/ There is one bad thing about it though, it's on the shorter side, but good enough for me to play through it a couple of times.

If he's into shooters, you can pick up Resistance, which is a "greatest hits" title for $29.99, then on November 5th, Resistance 2 comes out, pick that up because it's gonna kick ass :)

Yes, we have Xbox360..hence my argument. His argument went mainly 'blueray...blueray..blueray'.

Uncharted and Resistance Fall of Man are pretty much the only two exclusive to PS3 worth buying. Can't forget MGS4 too.

GTA4 is a must have on any system.

PS3 will finally hit big this holiday season and next year. Lots of great games slated for release.

Mercenaries 2 was absolutely awesome.

Imagine being able to travel all over Venezuela(like GTA) and wreak havoc on multitudes of brown people. The best part is calling in about 40 different types of airstrikes(MOAB, Laser Guided, carpet bombing, Daisy Cutter, tactical nuke, etc).

When the game was finished, I went back to saved game just to fuck around with the airstrikes and not worry about pissing off the various factions. I dropped the Mother of All Bombs in downtown Caracas and watched about 6 skyscrapers come down.

Get that one, he won't be sorry.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was great also, but it had like 8 hours of cut scenes(not even kidding) filled with incomprehensible, melodramatic gibberish. The game overall was a masterpiece, but you need some down time to play it.

Mercs 2 does indeed kick ass, but it's available for the 360 and the online setup is much easier to use on that format. There aren't many games available on both systems where the PS3 version is the one to get...and it's usually because of their shit online system. I've been without a 360 for a few months and this game (and a few coming up) have me scouring Craigslist today.

Call Of Duty 4 is never off my PS3. Although part 5 is coming out next month.

That did look cute but we got bored just in the demo of Lego Starwars.

They're the kind of game a guy can play with his 5 year old kid. Not fun for most gamers.

Well then just use the PS3 for a blu-ray player. As far as MGS 4 people suggest one would assume if her hubby wanted MG 4 he would have gotten the MGS 4 bundle.

Also on the positive side if they want to play online Sony isn't going to charge them $50 like MS does. I have a 360 and I like Madden, I really don't play online, but I've got to pay $50 for a fucking Xbox Live Gold subscription just so I can update the rosters. The PS3 verison offers this for FREE.

I just started playing Grand Theft Auto 4.

Assassin's Creed was sweet, but it's available on xbox360 i believe.

Gran Turismo is awesome, but I think you need to have a steering wheel to really have fun with that game. Just not the same with a controller.
