The Fascination with Sarah Palin???
This has to be the most accurate, brutally direct thing I've ever read that summarizes why morons like George Bush get elected (and re-elected) ... and why McCain/Palin are likely to be in the White House this January:
(Warning to Americans, you'll probably be offended) "Here's the thing about Americans. You can send their kids off by the thousands to get their balls blown off in foreign lands for no reason at all, saddle them with billions in debt year after congressional year while they spend their winters cheerfully watching game shows and football, pull the rug out from under their mortgages, and leave them living off their credit cards and their Wal-Mart salaries while you move their jobs to China and Bangalore. And none of it matters, so long as you remember a few months before Election Day to offer them a two-bit caricature culled from some cutting-room-floor episode of Roseanne as part of your presidential ticket. And if she's a good enough likeness of a loudmouthed middle-American archetype, as Sarah Palin is, John Q. Public will drop his giant-size bag of Doritos in gratitude, wipe the Sizzlin' Picante dust from his lips and rush to the booth to vote for her. Not because it makes sense, or because it has a chance of improving his life or anyone else's, but simply because it appeals to the low-humming narcissism that substitutes for his personality, because the image on TV reminds him of the mean, brainless slob he sees in the mirror every morning." I like reality shows. :)

Accurate? You just dropped many spots on the totem pole. That is one oft he most INNACURATE piles of shit I have ever read. Stereotyping.
Where Are you? Canada? It isn't much different. Wow. I can't even believe this post came from you. :2 cents: EDIT: Is this an entire copy/paste? Or is that first part that is non quoted your thoughts. I won't even click links from GFY because I don't care. I'm just curious. |

It's not a smart country. Look at the mortgage mess, credit card debts, and lack of intelligence. People would rather be told a neat story than vote for what would benefit them. People would rather know if Palin hunts moose instead of whether she could even point Iraq out on a map.
I still think the bigger issue is the sheer lack of independent thought. They let the media and parties tell them what to think. You see it here all the time when people just post talking points from the parties. Think about it. We have people here who call themselves conservatives. People who work in the porn industry who call themselves conservatives. How fucking nuts is that. |

Will someone please put Sarah Palin out of her agony? Is it too much to ask that she come to realize that she wants, in that wonderful phrase in American politics, "to spend more time with her family"? Having stayed in purdah for weeks, she finally agreed to a third interview. CBS's Katie Couric questioned her in her trademark sympathetic style. It didn't help. When asked how living in the state closest to Russia gave her foreign-policy experience, Palin responded thus: "It's very important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the United States of America. Where?where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to?to our state." There is, of course, the sheer absurdity of the premise. Two weeks ago I flew to Tokyo, crossing over the North Pole. Does that make me an expert on Santa Claus? (Thanks, Jon Stewart.) But even beyond that, read the rest of her response. "It is from Alaska that we send out those ?" What does this mean? This is not an isolated example. Palin has been given a set of talking points by campaign advisers, simple ideological mantras that she repeats and repeats as long as she can. ("We mustn't blink.") But if forced off those rehearsed lines, what she has to say is often, quite frankly, gibberish. |
I'm in love with Sarah Palin. Shhhhh.

It is also very easy to be both conservative and liberal at the same time, hell even while being an independent to boot. I personally find myself in this camp, one that is usually ignored for the most part as well. It is much easier to get the far right or left all worked up and often they typically are the most vocal. |
She's a real person, a reformer --not a Washington insider.
And she is pretty to boot. |

And you're right that you can be both. I'm fiscally conservative, and of course socially liberal (which is more libertarian than anything else). I'm talking about the people on this board who say they don't like McCain because he isn't conservative enough. Who wanted guys like Giuliani and Thompson to win. Guys who came out and said they would put in judges that would hurt this industry badly. Those who supported Bush who's only conservative ideals come in the social realm. If you are fiscally conservative in this industry, I totally understand (although you shouldn't like either party or candidates). If you are socially conservative in this country, I just don't think it gets much dumber. |
ok, as i see this election it reminds me of an episode of the Simpson's .. the one with two alien controlled puppet like presidents saying almost the same things .. the the people's choice is Alian1 or Alian2 even thought they will do the same
both Sarah Palin and B Obama look like they are just reading lines.. they are like zombies or something .. and if you get into their heads.. its as if they are empty or something.. i wonder who is really going to be in control when either one of them will be in power. |
