There are a LOT of party-line voters on the republican side. What pushes them over are the independents. I think debate or not they are all looking on a reason to NOT vote democrat right now.

McCain's been a politician for how many years? 20 or longer? He has quite a few debates under his belt and I'm sure he'll hold his own.

If McCain somehow wipes the floor with Obama in this debate... imagine the conspiracy theories the "McCain wins debate" screen shot would start!

I definitely think McCain stands a chance. He doesn't have to win the debate in order to win the debate. He has much lower expectations than Obama. Look at Bush vs Kerry in 2004 or Bush vs Gore in 2000. I don't think many would argue Bush won many, if any, of those debates yet didn't look like a complete moron so he came out on top.

These debates are all about the one catch phrase that becomes a soundbyte.

Obama will come up with something memorable.
