fuck that take it back and get a Gforce !
|
there is a huge difference between 256 and 512 ram
and there is some between 512 and 1024, but not too much |

Upgrading from 1k mhz to 2kmhz does nothing to your performance compared to (for example) doubling your memory.. Memory is king. |

i have geforce 4 Ti 4200 128mb with amd xp 2000+ and 512 ram...
unreal turnament and need for speed 2 both work smooth on max resolutions... fifa2k runs smooth on 1600X resolution too... so go exchange for geforce ;) |
geforce blows compared to the radeon 9700 pro, where have you been :)
the 9700 runs perfect in unreal t 2003 i have 2.53ghz, 1024 gb ddr , radeon 9700 |
I have 512 but hardly ever use all of it

I have a geforce, but numbers dont lie.
The ATI RADEON 9700 PRO is Speed King! |
and is that can be the problem ;
running nvidia drivers and ati drivers at the same time , nvidia detanator last drivers are still installed ? |

"Under its own label, ATI will only bring PRO versions to the market. The non-PRO models will be left to its graphics card partners, who will bring both PRO and non-PRO versions to the market. "
So if its an actual ATI, its a PRO if its 3rd party, you still dont know... |

http://mirror.ati.com/support/partner/list.html they are located in that list "Super Grace Electronics Ltd." my box is the same , the only problem that it was opened. and in the windows system it is named as "radeon9700" only i can see that. "pro" word is nowhere http://www.supergrace.com/BoxImages/...pro_small_.jpg |

Is the actual card an ATI or is it a third party board with an ATI chip on it? if its an actual ATI board, than its a PRO, that's what my quote explained. |

What an ignorant comment that was !!! ATI is the BEST card on the market ... without getting into intense $6000 studio cards ... I currently have the ATI Radeon 8500 (128MB dual head version) connected to two 19" pro monitors .... and it KICKS ASS !!! I have had almost every high end domestic card known to man, and I will take an ATI any fukkin day !!!! Sounds like you need a bit more memory dude ... P4's run best with a minimum of 512 MB anyways ... that should be plenty ... unless you are like me and have 15+ applications running concurrently :( then maybe go for 768 or 1024 ....) rule of thumb when building a box is spend the majority of your money on memory and processor power ... buy as much of each as fits your budget ... :thumbsup |
