Pay Per Install, what do you think?

I am not planing to use the Pay per Install because it's not what i do but i am having a argument with some European webmasters that claim to make a lot of money with it.

I am not an expert but to me it seems a sort of scam, plus i think it ruins the perception that surfer have about Porn sites.

There is this Italian program that "sells" the Paris Hilton video and other "products" , they basically ask the users to download an exe. file.

I am surprised that people are still downloading stuff for porn sites.

what's your take?

Can you help understand?

I haven't pushed anything PPI since 2003 when I pushed GammaCash's XXXToolbar

seems risky - suppose it dues turn out later to be something bad to their computer. I could easily see some user go after the site where that they which originally recommended the install

yeah that is what i thought too.

It seems to see the same situation back in the days with the dialers.

Nothing good comes from PPI

ilbb 09-26-2008 10:29 AM

shady area for me...I would avoid this

WiredGuy 09-26-2008 10:38 AM

Same to brand0n, tried it, made more from PPS/Free Email. Those PPI stuff are all spyware and viruses anyways. If they are legit/clean, they won't make much money and you're better off getting the free email.

Wouldn't touch it. Short term gain = long term pain.

Agent 488 09-26-2008 11:36 AM

i guess if you had a site where you didn't care about bookmarkers or repeat visitors.

Agent 488 09-26-2008 11:36 AM

or getting flagged by google and firefox/chrome as an "attack site."

Intervader 09-26-2008 01:28 PM

I would definately research anything that your pushing to users to make sure its legit and not full of crap.

A-n-D-r-E-S 09-26-2008 02:50 PM

That may be a scam... I wouldn't take the risk...

nyllover 09-27-2008 12:59 AM

They look exactly like dialers to me... i wouldn't even go near them and i'm surprised there are still people who use them.

Spammers, dialers and Pay Per Install are the worst shit of the web!

I agree!
Since those installs are always harmful to the user...
And what harms your visitors - harms you!

mattz 09-27-2008 06:16 PM

not worth the risk
