Deal is done. Will McCain debate now?

He didn't think they'd make a deal. :) So will he debate now?

ADL Colin 09-25-2008 10:39 AM

Sure will. I don't know why anyone would think mcCain is trying to skip the first debate. The first debate's subject is "foreign policy". The 3rd is "economics". Obama pushed for the order because he wanted to end on the one where he thought he had an advantage. What is it .. about 70% who think McCain is stronger on foreign policy?

stickyfingerz 09-25-2008 10:42 AM

The RNC frankly dances circles around everyone. It's funny to watch. :upsidedow

Doesn't matter either way now does it?.....The deal is done so he will be there.

Ole Miss will be PISSED if they lose 5 million dollars that it cost to set this debate up.

How would "foreign policy" save him from economics? The US foreign policy isn´t cheap, and everything in goverment breaks down to economics. Unless the debate is scripted, then there are lots of ways to spin whatever he says into economic questions (well at least after the debate hits YouTube :winkwink:

What Keith Olbermann said, and I would agree, is this:

By pushing the first debate into the future, there's only some 19 days left to organize 4 debates - 3 with the presidential candidates and one between the VPs. With scheduling conficts, it may be likely that one debate would be dropped, and that would obviously be the VP one. Palin can't even face off against Charles Gibson, let alone Biden.

Got that right ...

Quote:

CNN's Dana Bash just revealed the McCain campaign's latest strategy: Push the first Presidential debate back to October 2nd, the date of the VP debate. The VP debate would be delayed "until another time." Sure.

Lindsey Graham told Bash that if there isn't a bailout deal by Friday "McCain has no intention of going to the first debate."

We all know who is gonna win the fight: Barack Obama vs John McCain!!!

TampaToker 09-25-2008 11:15 AM

I feel confident in saying this so i will. MCCAIN IS DONE! I went to Obama's rally here yesterday in Clearwater and i must say i was simply amazed at the turn out. Granted the stadium only hold 3k of people and 15k showed up. As a white boy growing up in the ghetto this was a first time i have seen such a devise crowd mingling and talking politics with each other.

You had true ghetto people in the crown with there grills in there mouth standing and talking politics with older senior white citizens. There was such a calm in the air it was scary. I actually got a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Also there were alot of seniors out there with there Obama hats and shirts on as well.

I was about 30 feet away from Obama when he gave his speech. I love his speeches on tv but seeing it live in person is something i will never forget. The energy this man brought to us inside the stadium was just something you have to experience in person.

If he is bringing folks together like this in a small area like Clearwater you can just imagine
how things are working out in other rally area's.

Then of course you had that one Mccain supporter sneak in. He was a good old boy redeck that waited till the end of Obama's speech and started hollering vote for mccain while holding up a mccain sign. Well this little 70 year old white man climbed up and over 2 flights of seats and pulled th sign from his hand and started to rip it up lol

Well they did lose 31 House and 5 Senate seats in 2006. They are expected to lose almost 20 House and 5 more Senate seats in 2008. Obama has erased a 4 point McCain lead and is up by 9 points in some polls.

Keep dancing RNC. :thumbsup

so out of his whole post, you think that tearing up the sign of someone interrupting SOMEONE ELSES free speech at his own rally is hindering it?......Out of that man's whole fucking novel about the turnout and the calm in the air and everything else, the BEST you can come up with is that?.....

Silence would've been a more powerful response than that bs. :1orglaugh

Snake Doctor 09-25-2008 12:40 PM

Of course he's going to debate.

This whole thing was just a ploy to lower expectations for the debate (he was busy with the crisis and didn't have time to prepare) AND it was him trying to ride into Washington and take credit for the bailout deal that he had nothing to do with.

Seeing him speak in person is incredible isn't it? Saw him last week and it was inspiring to say the least.

Yo Adrian 09-25-2008 12:59 PM

I know it's already been said in this thread, but I think this whole stunt was so that the McCain campaign could try to force next Thursday's VP debate to be cancelled.

They have no confidence in this woman, she's just there to look young & pretty. They don't let her answer questions from the press, don't allow cameras into the UN to report her meetings with foreign leaders, they're refusing to release her personal financial info until after the VP debate, which is now in question, it's unreal.

I've watched several Biden speaches during this campaign already and he's solid, especially on foreign policy.. he's going to expose Palin's inadequacy for the job and the GOP knows it.

And I know all politicians lie, but HOLY SHIT.. all she has are lies, here's as list of 12 biggies made since the convention, which was not very long ago.

Andre Sullivan has been great the past few years... for a gay republican for Obama.

directfiesta 09-25-2008 04:16 PM

Seems McCain managed to torpedo the deal...

According to fox, there is NO DEAL !!!!

http://kara.allthingsd.com/files/200...or-no-deal.jpg

McCain must have a hardon:

- he gets away of the debate, shelters Palin from the only one ...

The cost:small ... just the American economy ....
He is a PATRIOT :thumbsup

As I understand it, the University of Mississippi is not willing to cancel or postpone the debate. So if McCain doesn't show up, we might actually see the first presidential debate with only one candidate present. I'm sure Obama wouldn't mind debating with the hosts only. I also expect the news networks would happily broadcast this.

Snake Doctor 09-25-2008 07:28 PM

It looks like McCain went to Washington just to fuck up the current deal....so that another different deal could be made that he would be involved in...so that the story would change from the economy going to shit on the republican's watch to "McCain providing the leadership to fix the economy"

Quote:

According to the source with knowledge of the White House gathering -- which featured both presidential candidates, congressional leaders and the President -- virtually ever key figure in the room, save McCain and GOP Sen. Richard Shelby, were in agreement over a revised version of Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson's plan.

Towards the end, McCain finally spoke up, mentioning a counter-proposal that had been offered by some conservative House Republicans, which would suspend the capital gains tax for two years and provide tax incentives to encourage firms that buy up bad debt

Apparently still the republican solution for everything is to cut taxes for investors and corporations.

Technically the dems don't need any republicans to pass this bill...unless the republicans filibuster, which is highly unlikely.

BUT, the dems are going to want the cover of at least half the republican caucus voting for the bill, so it can't be used against them in November.

This thing was pretty much in the bag until McCain rode into town and fucked it up. I wouldn't be surprised if he drops another 5 points in the polls because of this stunt.
