What % is the industry down from last year?

I'm posting this because I recently got some news that a major client of mine is cutting back on content until Jan. Completely unexpected to me, to say the least.

I was under the assumption that I wasn't going to be affected by the problems hitting our economy. Obviously I was wrong.

It got me thinking. How hard has the adult industry been hit? Any estimates on the % of slump from last September?

the Shemp 09-25-2008 01:54 AM

i'll start the bidding at 20% ...

i think .. around 30% :Oh crap

rock-reed 09-25-2008 02:39 AM

I'd say around 30% .... but the way at which torrents are catching on amongst people... that is compounding quickly... It'll be 60-70% before end of year.

SomeCreep 09-25-2008 03:29 AM

"Tube sites."

Lol, you know someone had to say it.

V_RocKs 09-25-2008 03:29 AM

20% seems fair.

InternetIsForPorn 09-25-2008 04:00 AM

50% by end of the year.

notoldschool 09-25-2008 04:36 AM

60% for those doing big sales.

hjnet 09-25-2008 05:04 AM

I'd say 30-40%, but it's not over by now.

And I see a lot of board names missing lately, I'm curious who'll be around in another 12 months....

Barefootsies 09-25-2008 05:10 AM

It depends on the segment of the market you are talking about.

Niche sites. Unaffected (or minimal).

More mainstream porn sites. Harder hit.

TGP's, some, even more so.

While you did not specifically narrow it down to sites dealing with content, I would say that those more 'mainstream hardcore' are more effected then other segments of the 'adult online biz' than some others.

I would say it could vary widely.

Tube sites are up. Oh, see sig.

StarkReality 09-25-2008 05:22 AM

It's like the stock market, no lost money, it just changed hands...but overall I think it's still like 20% down all over the board.

Sausage 09-25-2008 05:37 AM

Seen around a 20% drop, but it was the worst over the summer/olympics period. Traffic stable, though the credit crunch means a lot less plastic being used.

I agree about the niche sites. My sites are down only a little and its mostly affiliate sales that are down at that. But I send thousands of hits to atleast a hundred proggies and they are ALL down about 60%. Thank god for type in sales. :)

PornNewz 09-25-2008 08:42 AM

I'm hearing about 30%-40% for non-niche, about 10%-20% for niche sites.

NikKay 09-25-2008 09:14 AM

Depends on the niche, depends on the company...

count of monte cristo 09-25-2008 09:29 AM
