He's showing how much he is like Bush.

They can only do one thing at a time; and they do it badly.

He wants to delay them for later that afternoon. He is still a senator and so is Obama. I think they should both go to Washington and work on this bailout issue. I am sure if you look and read what he said, it didn't say he wants to bypass the debate. Just suspend/delay to work on a much bigger issue. If you think about it, this could be something he or Obama have to deal with when one of them wins.

I see nothing wrong if he just wants to delay it for a day or 2.

A debate cost millions to prepare for and has been planned for years... you want this city to waste that money and put off the debate for the purpose of a political smoke screen by a losing canidate

the debate is only one day for a few hours... there is no need to suspend the debates unless you are afraid

Don't get me wrong I have no doubt he is doing this to try and boost his rating, but this isnt' the first time he has done this either. Last fall he did the same thing when I think the iraq war issues were being voted on. He stopped campaigning and went to DC to tie it up. (Granted also less critical of a time)

As far as his experience of economy, how many politicians do you honestly think truly know the economy? Do you think the president is the be all end all of everything government? Do you think Clinton KNEW everything? Of course not, this is what aides and such are for. It's who they surround themselves with that makes or breaks this economy / government.

Honestly I think most of the people on this board are letting their hatred for Bush/Iraq War cloud their judgment. Think a little bit and don't believe everything you see on tv :)

OK want to see a true debate? Think about this. Do you really think that the 700 Billion bailout package isn't pretty fucking serious to suspend (not cancel) 1 debate? Also considering both are Senators, don't you think you would see a much better debate on the floor with these two going head to head to show off their knowledge of the economy? To me the debate could happen either way, one would be more off the cuff the other with pussified planned questions they already probably have answers too.

No surprise as McCain has been a real Senator this whole time and not some idiot that shows up and votes "present" everytime there's an issue

Obama called mccaine this morning to do something about the issue and McCaine flipped it and made this bullshit anoucement

Don't the democrats control congress? Don't you think this isn't just one parties fuck up? How about blaming the nimrods who allowed people to take out loans who couldn't pay for them? How about the executives that are getting fat pockets and not having to pay for their mistakes. I honestly don't think this is a one party issue, but again I think its clouded judgement.
