Anybody own a Porsche Cayman?

Leases are up soon on 2 cars and looking at the Cayman cause its practically the same price.

xenigo 09-24-2008 09:24 AM

Only buy the Cayman S, dude. The standard Cayman is slow as hell.

The Duck 09-24-2008 09:31 AM

Looks like a bloody nice car.

Cayman 0-60 mph 5.8 s topspeed 161 mph
Cayman S 0-60 mph 5.1 s topspeed 171 mph

because of 0.7 seconds and 10mph topspeed itīs slow as hell ?

especially when you are allowed to drive 55 mp/h max?

:upsidedow

i sat in a Cayman once and drove a Boxster for a week - they are great cars, great sound, handling is fantastic. i just noticed that my old 968 has much more space for the driver. but for you... ahem... the Cayman is perfect :winkwink:

Cayman is a nice car, I thought about leasing one before I bought my BMW. Would defo get it after I'm done with this car tho.

LilBro 09-24-2008 10:26 AM

I've driven that car once in the past and loved it.

:2 cents:

Kudles 09-24-2008 10:49 AM

Yeah I five haha!

TidalWave 09-24-2008 10:53 AM

Wouldn't do it... Cayman is the low end model. Its the Boxter with a hard top.
At least, look for a good lease deal on a Carrera 2S (or 4S if you want AWD).

I have a Cayenne GTS as my SUV. Not bad. The electronics could be better though.

when a four door infiniti g35 sedan has a faster 0-60, then i would say yes, it's considered slow for a porsche

TubeTitans_SusieQ 09-24-2008 10:58 AM

have fun with it, it looks awesome

55 max was ended in 1987. Was bumped to 65. Bumped to 70mph in many states too now. TN is 70mph on most major highways. Which means 81mph on most highways is withing the 'allowable' limit.

If I were a 911 owner I'd be pissed at Porsche for designing the Cayman and furthur diluting the 911 style :1orglaugh

There is still a 55 limit. The speed limit is dependent upon the population in the particular area. When you get in rural areas it's 65 or 70 depending on the highway. Most US highways are engineered for 75 mph though, so they are still giving us the shaft.

.7 is roughly 7 car lengths in a 1/4 mile so yeah it's a huge deal. Cayman S for sure bud or 335i/135i twin turbo with chip intake and exhaust they run high 12's and mid 13's in the 1/4 mile.

I'm 6'5 and I can drive a cayman s easily...

Sansa 09-24-2008 10:04 PM

Cayman is a good looking car but like someone else said, it would suck getting beat by an Infiniti or BMW sedan.

Adam_M 09-24-2008 10:10 PM

I love the style of the Cayman, never driven one though.
