how hard to hook up direct tv receiver to laptop directly?

just wondering if anyone here has done it, is it a simple thing?... is there an s video output on the direct-tv receiver and is it just as simple as a cable to the s-video-in port on the laptop and voila, instant tv video?

any special software needed to watch?

am I missing something and it is not so easy?

if you have video card & s video output frm receiver or tv & S video in on your laptop, you should be able to watch it on your laptop.

Never tried that myself. But here is a list of USB TV Tuners on newegg, maybe one of these will do.

I have an HP pavilion laptop with an s-video input on it, so I was hoping it would be easy, guess that next I have to find out if the direct-tv receiver's have s-video output on them

I have a DirecTV receiver hooked up to my desktop using a tv card. I know my old windows laptop had a tv in port that I would plug a coax cable into it and then it would be good to go besides audio if I remember right.
