I saw this on the news when I was at the gym, pretty crazy.

My brothers friend who works for a bank says that the gov't has 99 years to pay you back your FDIC insured money... dunno if thats true but pretty messed up imo

Guess they didn't have enough friends in government to get a bailout.

It's pretty common for a small bank to go under. People are just more aware of these type of things now due to the current economic environment.

Is the media exaggerating this downturn? Why are they comparing it to the Great Depression and not the S&L crisis in the 80's where thousands of banks were wiped out? Forgive me, I know nothing about economics.
